Any fans? This will be my third year in a row seeing him. It's always a fantastic time. Has anyone here ever seen him live? EDIT: Misspelled Buffett in the subject line. Oops.
Re: Going to Jimmy Buffet tonight!!! Perish the thought and absolutely not...but have a wonderful time dear. I hope you have good seats as well.
Re: Going to Jimmy Buffet tonight!!! I hope that it's better than Hometown Buffet... (I probably deserve a kick for that)
Re: Going to Jimmy Buffet tonight!!! 8 rows back, so yeah, they're pretty good. Thanks for the good wishes.
Re: Going to Jimmy Buffet tonight!!! Me and 100,000ish of my closest friends saw Jimmy at Jazz Fest 2008 (took some pics). He puts on an awesome show and everyone really enjoyed it. He's a great entertainer in spite of an acute lack of musical talent. Among other things I remember from the concert, towards the end of his set, he spotted a spectator wearing a shirt that read "Rebuilding New Orleans, One Margarita at a Time" and had to have it, so he traded his sandals for the shirt.
Re: Going to Jimmy Buffet tonight!!! ^Great story. The first year I saw him I managed to get fourth row seats and I noticed that he was going barefoot. I guess the spectator lucked out, because I doubt he was going to take his shirt off on stage to trade with them.
Re: Going to Jimmy Buffet tonight!!! Do Jimmy Buffet fans get mad when you call him a one hit wonder? I mean come on everybody only knows one song, so he's a one hit wonder.
One-Hit Wonder? Let's see. "Come Monday," "Margaritaville," "Changes In Latitude," "Cheeseburger In Paradise," "Volcano," et cetera. Sounds like more than one to me. Have a great time, Ward. I've never seen him live, but I enjoy his music.
Go up to 34,000 random people on the street. Ask them to name a Jimmy Buffet song. If one of them says anything other than Margaritaville I'll...well I won't have to do anything cuz it aint happnin.
You're clearly a commie pinko atheist who knows nothing about American pop culture. Buffett is a classic and, as for me, I don't know anyone who doesn't know at least a dozen songs he made famous. I'm a huge fan. For several years, we went every single year (sometimes more than once) when he came to Boston. The pre-concert tailgating is always a highlight. Do they do that in your neck of the woods. Ward? Have a blast! Fins to the left, Fins to the right!
I've seen him twice. FABULOUS. My brother actually was a chef for him and his band last summer. Said he was a great guy.
Well I am an atheist, but I am actually somewhat of a right-wing libertarian. I am not precisely sure what a pinko is so I'll have to reserve judgement. Hey I like Jimmy Buffet. For about the first three minutes of Margaritaville. Then I just have to move on to more accomplished artists. You know like Toni Basil or Men Without Hats.
Sorry, my age must be showing again. I was just adding a bit of hyperbole from the '50s and '60s (that my brother-in-law likes to still drag out.) Back then, of course, Communists were evil, and "Pinko" was a term for someone sympathetic to the Communist cause (I suspect the term derives from the fact that the term "Red" was a euphemism for Communist, and a sympathizer would be considered a "diluted Red", or "pink"?) The "atheist" was just thrown in because it seemed to always be thrown into the mix back then. No actual malicious intent on my part. I recommend aspirin and lots of Gatorade. Sleep tight, and may your dreams be filled with visions of sail boats and palm trees and refreshing tropical libation (along with not a few scantily clad men and/or women in grass skirts, according to your particular frame of mind.)
I've seen him 6 times in concert, all during the 1990's and they were all great fun. He's a pretty good author too.
