Anyone else extremely sensitive to caffeine?

I stopped all intake of caffeine in May, and have felt about a million times better. I used to suffer from anxiety, which apparently all resulted from a sensitivity to caffeine. Which I no longer have. I had tremors at all times of the day. I don't have that anymore.

I took a migraine pill this morning which contained caffeine. I felt incredibly sick for about 6 hours.

Anyone else very sensitive to caffeine or other substances?

I don't even feel any stimulant effects from caffeine. The only time I felt anything from caffeine was the time me and a friend were trying to pull an allnighter and popped loads of mints that were FULL of caffeine and ended up taking a couple of grams each. My friend, who is significantly larger and heavier than I am, felt fine but I felt horrible the whole morning, needed to piss every 10 minutes and could barely stand up because my legs felt so weak. Should've probably checked out how much caffeine was in those things before popping a whole packet!

No, except for (and this is weird) Tea & Diet Pepsi, Big Red & Mountain dew.

Yes. Even a small amount of caffeine can send my heart rate jumping, my ears ringing, a headache and give me a general nauseous feeling.

At least this thread doesn't have one of these people who claim that caffeine makes them sleepy.

They make me roll my eyes and sentence them to a donkey punch from Timby.

My wife still hasn't forgiven me for the last time you handed down that sentence.

I need to chug about four 10-oz mug-fulls before I start to feel any fidgety effects.

Is it called caffeine because it comes from coffee, or is it called coffee because it contains caffeine?

Well, after the high from the caffeine wears off, it would make you sleepy. Maybe some people just don't get that energy boost, and they only experience the after-effects.

I believe it's derived from "kaffee," the Germanic form of "coffee."

I think I might be sensitive to it somewhat? I know that I've gotten really sick when trying coffee drinks from places outside. I mean, not even just a straight up coffee, but something diluted with other stuff. I don't drink coffee, I have tea maybe once or twice a year, and I drink pop only on occasion.

When I was ... 23? It was my first time drinking and we went out to a bar in downtown Chicago. I had several drinks, got drunk, and wanted to do a shot with the guys before heading back home. Not knowing what was what, I left it to my husband to order. He ordered a round of jagerbombs and then we went back shortly after.

He wanted to go to sleep and I was bouncing off walls all night. The funny thing is that drinking, even other drinks, tend to give me a lot of energy (though we didn't know this at the time). He's never let me do a jagerbomb since.

I've learned I can't drink caffeine to late in the evening. Funny thing is it took me years to figure it out. I have delayed sleep disorder anyway so I normally don't go to sleep until early in the morning. Sometimes I wouldn't be able to sleep at all though and after awhile it kinda of dawned on me that it may be related to that 44oz. Big Gulp of Coke I had at 11 at night.

I won't go so far as to say it makes me sleepy, but I will say it has no effect on my ability to sleep. I don't drink coffee, but I do drink soft drinks all day and all night. Doesn't matter how recent once my head hits the pillow I am out like a light.

Conversely, some mornings I don't feel fully awake until after a Coke.

It makes me shake like someone with palsy and I break out in hives. Is that sensitive enough? I can have one cup of decaf and be fine but any more than that turns into twenty-four hours of hell.

When I drink coffee (only coffee, not tea or caffeinated soft drinks) my left arm goes numb. This doesn't happen if I drink decaf.

There was that one time I went into what was either some form of second degree atrioventricular block or a ventricular non-output bigeminy (I never did get that ECG) following a large Americano at Costa, which was fun. Fun in that I was feeling my extremely slow, semi-irregular pulse, and spent the whole time coping with the palpitations and lightheadedness by rolling on the floor and laughing uncontrollably.

I have got to do it again.

I am very sensitive, but it means that if I don't have my three cups of espresso every day, I feel drowsy, irritable and I invariably get an headache.

Some times ago I was a bit worried about these withdrawal symptoms (because that's what they are), but then I though, "who cares, I will never live in a place without coffee" and went about with my drinking habits.

I have that, too. But it doesn't depend on caffeine, because the only effects I had when I abstained from coffee was that that I still went to sleep at the first light in the morning, but I was in a foul mood all night.
