What did Wise REALLY want for a TMP Director's Cut?

There seemed to be a good deal of obvious looping in TMP. Probably a lot of mechanical noise in the background, but it wasn't as bad in later films.

The little bridge console videos for TMP had little clattering, continuous film loops inside them, and before ST II started filming, Nick Meyer had them all transferred to videotape so they could be quickly rewound for retakes, and they wouldn't chatter so much and forcing most bridge dialogue to need to be re-looped.
 
given that Probert ALSO did art of a SURAK approach looking UP past crew through windows ... this shot is almost an inversion of that drawing,

Yes, but that particular drawing was for an additional rec-deck in the decks under the bridge-structure.
