But as it turns out I may be eligible to come into a large sum of money. It turns out that some Nigerian prince has aquired some-kind-of windfall but there's a difficulty in him getting ahold of this money, so my help is required. So I must help him out by sending him some of my own money in order to grease some wheels and help this man get his windfall. In return I will recieve a significant percentage of this windfall. I am not at all suspicious that this man elected me -seemingly at random- to do this for him and choose to contact me via email.

Rest assured, when I get my windfall I'll remain the same-old Trekker you know and love.

Good to know, Trekker. If I ever find myself in a similar situation, I know who I can turn to to bail me out.

I went back and forth with some Russian woman a while back, who wanted to snag an American husband. As far as she was concerned, I was a wealthy American lawyer bringing home $300K a year, and the paperwork was always just "held up" but her green card would come through any day now.

Pretty obvious she was just working for the Russian mafia and trying to get money out of me--which never happened. D'oh!

I've won the UK Lottery a dozen times or more (and the Miscrosoft lottery). Maybe I shoudl collect one day and have all that free viagra I passed on, shipped to a small tropical island full of naked girls.

I'm always struck by how much money is needing a transfer to another country from some small backward place.

Let us know how you go. I'm sure it will all work out well...

*calls someone on my phone*

Hey, Admiral A, it's me Ben.
...
Not bad. Look, there's someone here who really needs your advice, he's planning on transferring money to a Nigerian Prince who contacted him through email.
...
Yes, I could say it myself but you're far more forceful than me and he'd be more likely to listen to you.
...
Come on Acky, I know you're busy but it's your duty to help the guy.
...
Great! He's on the TrekBBS and goes by the name of Trekker4747.
...
Yes, that Trekker4747.
...
Good good, see you soon.

I've got a friend coming over to give you some financial advice, don't transfer the money until you hear what he has to say. :)

Man, I didn't know Nigeria was so welty. A guy in the Doctoe's office yesterday had a similar mail as did another gal in the waiting room.

Hubby got called in just then so I don't know what they plan to do, but you guys will OWN that country if you aren't careful. ;)

Do keep us posted.

So all the banks money that they lost is it in Nigeria
How else did they become so rich.

It's all them oil dollars.

Because we know them oil company likes to keep them oil dollars in the countries where they does that drillin' stuff.

I love these emails. I always send them back a healthy dose of "what I think America should do to their country"
You seem to think America should do terrible things to most countries, simply because they're not America.

"Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism."

This is a bit long, but it is the Best Email Scammer Takedown EVAR

When he receives a 419, as they're called, a guy replies as if he's living in a Cthulhu Mythos story. Truly one of the funniest things I've read on the net (and I've been to TNZ!). It is worth your time, especially the end.

Oh my God, that's brilliant. And it's not even subtle. The Lovecraft elements are applied with a sledgehammer. :guffaw:

Trekker: hmm, that sounds like a big scam, dude! I had some emails one day about the same thing and I just deleted the bastards. I'm not sending ANYONE $$ that I don't know.
