YAY! I'm done with the CA Bar exam!!!

A very long 3 day test.

Although I did well in school, my memory has been giving me problems lately--more than usual. And where writing was what I did, suddenly I couldn't follow simple directions. Totally freaking, panicking, and blanking.

So I went in on Day one--three essays, three hours. Any of around 15 subjects, with hundreds of possible issues arising. I did what I could. I know I blew some stuff on the evidence question, but too late now.

Day one afternoon--performance test, three hours. This is what I should've been excelling on yet was having major problems. I think things worked! I felt okay about what I did.

Day two--100 multiple choice questions, three hours--then repeat in the afternoon. The kind of stuff where you can get it down to 2 answers, but can't always figure out which. Or "what the hell is this? we didn't learn anything about this?" I finished the afternoon's session in 2 hours. Thank you Harry Potter, for getting my reading speed up.

Day three--a repeat of day one. Except this time, I felt good about the performance test.

Went out last night with classmates. Had a good time and celebrated.

Hubby has been so wonderful throughout, even through my meltdowns. I am so very lucky to have him.

I was freaking out two weeks ago, then last week, I decided that I was going to fail. So I didn't have to be afraid that I was going to--it was a done deal. And all I had to do was do whatever I could, as practice for re-taking it in February. Instead...I relaxed...and my brain turned back on.

And I think I have a decent chance of passing. I'll find out November 20.

So if anyone is going to be taking this in the future, feel free to pm me--do I have tips for you of what you should/shouldn't worry about.

Welcome to the club of those of us unlucky enough to have sat through one of those hell tests.

California is an insanely hard exam. I'm sure you did fine!

^ That, and:

From almost going nuclear due to stress, to the calm that settles when you realise that all you have to do is your best -I think most people ever taking any kind of exam knows what you're talking about there :rommie:

Professional exams, whatever the discipline, are always something of a marathon so I can relate to that. I'm sure you did great! Good luck! :techman:

Congrats on surviving the ordeal, Propita!

I agree completely and totally sympathize, Holdfast.

What was your poison.

The wait is the worst. You come out of it thinking you did pretty well, and over the next 2-3 months, your mind plays tricks on you and you second guess yourself to the point where you swear you'd just be happy to get one problem right.

Plus there's the issue of being so used to studying for it, you feel kinda naked not having a book with you at all times!

Shrink Royal College exams. You?

The beauty is that once it's done, you never ever have to pick up a book against your will ever again.

I might take you up on that (although it's a long way off). Since law school is my goal, I always live vicariously through people taking these tests (and, since, from what I gather, these tests are hell on Earth, it's not the best time to be living through someone else ;) ).

Please let us know how you did :)
