I don't know about that. I think the fact that he's now going to have to go out and win the job will be good for him. Of course, it's not even guaranteed he'll even be the starter. But, if he does, it should be a confidence boost.

He looked great in the OTAs. While all the Favre crap was at his peak, he went out there an slung the football. It didn't seem to bother him. He was even joking about it--and all the erroneous reports made about his "attitude."

Plus, despite what all the depth charts say, I think Rosenfels is currently the would-be starter. But if Jackson has a good camp, plays well in exhibition, and keeps the loony-toons  to a minimal, the job is his.

No chance in hell. The Vikings are all about the "culture of accountability" now. Once you've become the laughing stock of the league, you go out of your way to avoid any potential bad press.

Plus, they have nothing to gain. The guy simply doesn't fit the bill--totally wrong for the offense.

The irony here is, people call Jackson "Vick-lite." Except I really think Jackson is the better quarterback. Vick was just a little faster and ran a lot more and thus made a the better highlight real.

Jackson is a much better passer--at least when he's not doing stupid shit.

Well, if you ask Bears fan, there's no need to play the season. They have their savior. (His initials are JC.) and he's going to lead the team to the pot of gold.

I think they're due for an eye-opener with Cutler. The guy can sling it no doubt, but I don't know he'll be as a significant upgrade as people seem to think.

For starters, I think Orton was better than people gave him credit for, and Cutler just isn't as "great" as people have anointed him.

Cutler has always played very poorly against strong defenses. In a few cases, we was down-right awful. Also, the other teams in the AFC West: Oakland, KC, and San Diego have all had mediocre to terrible pass defenses the past couple of years. If you look at the game by game stats, you'd see he really padded his stats against them.

As far as his, "big" numbers last year, if you compare them to other quarterbacks who threw 600 or more passes, his actually rank pretty low.

Then there's the whole issue of surrounding talent. Denver has one of the better receiving corps and one of the best offensive lines, the Bears have neither.

Hasn't been mentioned here yet, but Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson lost his battle with cancer yesterday. The man was a defensive genius and probably the reason why the Eagles have had such a strong defense the last 10 years. I kinda knew this thing was coming, but it's still sad to hear.

The Texans have a fairly decent offense. If their utterly horrible defense can at least improve to almost mediocre they can go above 500.

Should make for some interesting discussion about the NFC East this year though.

It'll make for some confusing discussion of the NFC east. I'll think I'm Tyler Durden and, instead of sleeping, I become a Cowbyos fan during the night and argue with myself.

But I always love Eagles-Cowboys rivalry discussion, so it should be fun.

Those are always good but let's face it, the Giants-Eagles rivalry is a better one. After all, everyone hates the Cowboys.

That should be the case, but if you ask Philadelphians what their most hated team is, it's the Cowboys. The reason for this can be seen if you polled the region for favorite teams. The Eagles would be number one, but the Cowboys are number two (they are both the 2nd most popular team and the most hated). Cowboy fans infect the Delaware valley like a plague and I think Philadelphia holds a lot of resentment towards the idea of the Cowboys being America's team. So, while I want to see the Giants lose too, nothing gives me more satisfaction than when the Cowboys lose.

Yeah, I just have to remember that you're the one with the green name.

I'm not sure which team I hate more. Historically the biggest Cowboy rivals have been the Redskins, but I think today it would have to be the Eagles. The Giants are hated to, but there is just something about the so called "city of brotherly love" that Cowboys fans loathe.

Of course, imo, I think Eagles fans hate the Cowboys more than vice versa, and I think it stems from an inferiority complex. How many Super Bowls have the Eagles won? Exactly. ;)

In all seriousness, the Eagles have had some fantastic teams throuout the years, but they have never been able to win the big one. Couple that with the fact that the Cowboys get so much attention whether they deserve it or not, and I can see why so many hate the Cowboys. It's ironic, I hate the Yankees for the same reasons people hate the Cowboys.

Trust me in this though: no one is hardest on the Cowboys than their own fans, but I look forward to some good NFC East discussion when the season begins. I just want them to win one lousy playoff game...

It's so sad that the passing of one of the greatest coaches in history is a footnote, just because it happened on the day that Brett Favre's latest attention-whoring saga ended. :(

JKTim (or, ah, Timby, can I just call you Tim?), they thankfully had some coverage of it on TV today, but, for the most part, this has been sadly buried news.

There's sadly some (a lot of) truth to this.

I think it's time to start some trash early so you can get ready for when we crush you this year.

This video is a littler older, but it never gets old

All I have to say is:

And on a serious note, the passing of Jim Johnson is indeed sad. Definitely one of the greatest defensive coaches in NFL History. It's a shame the HOF doesn't allow assistants in.

So, I'm the only one who's a Jets fan? Let's see, we have sketchy quarterbacks--one's an untested rookie and the other no one has paid enough attaention to to remember how he plays. I've heard the defense described as the budget version of the Ravens'. The receivers may as well not exist, because no one knows who they are. Our running game is supposed to be great.

    4-12, here we come!
