Babylon 5 - I'm finally going to do it

(JMS should just provide all the raw (green-screen) footage to the fans who have worked with Lightwave - Fabio Passaro for example, a fan himself, worked on The Lost Tales; he built the new B5-CG-model) :D
Sadly, neither JMS nor the CG company were allowed to keep any of those files and WB has proven...less than dilligent at archiving B5 in the past (Pilot footage chewed on by rats, lost CG files).

And what a beaut that model is, I am currently using one of his Babylon 5 renders as my background on my computer at work.

Agreed. Man does B5 look spectacular with modern CGI!

Here you can see more of the model itself:

But the CG-files wouldn't work today anymore anyway.

Just saw Babylon Squared again. I've got a feeling the next 2 episodes will be almost the same episode told by the other perspective, with Sinclair being the One and we find out the woman he was talking to. Still, after getting up to Season 3, B^2 is a great episode.

Something I noticed though, going back to seeing a Season 1 episode is weird when you're in a Season 3 mindset. Seeing Delenn bald, or Sinclair's heavy breathing (Seriously, that guy breathes like it's his last breath). So looking forward to War Without End.

War Without End

When I asked the question when the Rangers were introduced if Sinclair formed them, someone in this thread said he leads the Rangers, but they've been around for years. (Or something to that effect) Well, now that I've completed Sinclair's arc, I think it's safe to say yes he did form the Rangers.

Wow what an episode. I loved the intermix between Babylon Squared and this one (Yeah, watch both at or around the same time to get the whole story) and there were so many revelations. From Delenn being the one to rescue Zathuras (Not Sinclair), to Sheridan being the one Sinclair is trying to touch. This episode very much exceeded my expections in showing "behind the scenes" really of the B^2 events and those revelations were absolutely outstanding. Once we found out Sinclair was really Valen, everything just came together so fast. The amnesia, why the Minbari surrendered. Actually I wanted to do some reading on Valen to remind myself of his significance, and I have a question. What about Cathrine Sakai. She has not been around for ever it seems and they were lovers. I guess it's really all a circle and time travel can get confusing, so that might explain a few things.

Other notable parts I loved. Sheriden being on a possible future Centauri prime and we see some of Londo's dream (And his promise from I think Firing line that he will die with his hands wrapped on G'Kar's throat), Ladira's dream of the destruction of the station, and and just all the filling in the gaps this episode did.

It really is a shame they don't make TV like this much anymore. Perhaps they do with Lost, but I haven't seen stuff like this in a long time. You get well told answers to questions and new questions start forming. Heck, BSG never really did this, or thier answers to questions were not as great. It's just so fun watching a series that does stuff like this and makes those revelations worth it.

I'm not sure if this episode passes Severed Dreams or Long Twilight Struggle, but it is definitely a top 5. I'm still shocked.

Walkabout

After so many revelations and a side trip to Babylon 4, that episode was very much needed. Maybe it was to catch our breath or just show something of semblance of life on the station, but the quietness of the episode was something I really liked. That, and the singer was quite a good character, and I appreciated one of her songs over the end credits instead of the theme. The Lyta storyline was great too, with her realizing Sheridan has a part of Kosh in him and her going up against the Shadows. Nice to see the Narn come in at the last minute but I figured that would happen.

As for Kosh II, well, not much to say about him yet other than he's very very purple.

Glad to hear things have been progressing well. In four episodes, you'll also see another extensively hinted at and foreshadowed (no pun intended) event come to pass in true B5 form.

I'm moving quite fast so would that be three episodes now?

Grey 17 is Missing

You know what's sad. That episode was probably the weakest episode of the season and it didn't need to be. The only reason why it was so weak was because of the whole Grey 17 plot and the guy who wouldn't shut up about the universe. Everything else wasn't all that bad. Neroon returns, he and Marcus have a great duel, Marcus makes Neroon laugh (Which was kind of funny actually), and Garibaldi has some interesting stories to tell at the end. Why did the Grey 17 plot have to be so stupid. Oh well. Given what this season has been, I forgive them. That, and I hear the final three episodes of the season are spectactular (In fact, I think that was JMS's words when talking about Walkabout on the Lurkers guide. ;) ).

What about Cathrine Sakai. She has not been around for ever it seems and they were lovers. I guess it's really all a circle and time travel can get confusing, so that might explain a few things.

If you read "To Dream in the City of Sorrows" you get the whole story of what Sakai, Marcus and Sinclair get up to in 2259. Aside from that it's a really good read that has a surprising amount of background info on the Rangers, Valen, the Minbari in general and even some of the origin of Jumpgates. Oh and it's all considered by JMS to be 100% canon. ;)

I also liked the extra background on Sinclair himself, including why he, as a man of the 23rd century, would know about Lucy and Ethel.

This is true of The Shadow Within and the three trilogies as well, barring a couple of details (such as a reference to green PPG blasts in one).

Not quite so in the case of "The Shadow Within". The Anna/Morden/Icarus half is indeed canon, though the Sheridan/Agamemnon half isn't, or so I gather. No huge loss.
