She wasn't really a contestant per se; she was an auditioner for the 7th Season.

A 23-year-old man named Daniel Bark has since been charged with death by reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident following Cohen’s death, TMZ reports. Cohen’s body was found by two pedestrians more than 1,000 feet away from her own parked car. Bark faces 15 years in prison if convicted.

That is terribly sad. :(

I hate watching the videos too, because there's this morbid knowledge that you see them talk about their hopes and dreams, and you know in a few short years they will never live them. Terrible. :(

Honestly, what is the purpose of coming in here and dumping on a thread that doesn't have to concern you one bit? You could have simply ignored it, but instead you chose to exacerbate what you apparently consider a problem. How about you say "Nah, not worth it" and simply not post, instead of choosing the more antagonistic route?

Where are people's manners? Why do people have to interject into something that doesn't concern them, when other people aren't bothering them?

I find value in all human life, and so for me this is a sad moment, as evinced by my comment above. You seem not to even care about this one life, so you'll understand if I find your comment about ten million people dying every day to be lacking in it's genuine sincerity.

I want to address the overuse of identifying people with shows they were barely associated with.

"M*A*S*H cast member battles cancer!" Marcia Strassman was a guest on ONE episode of the show in its eleven seasons. She was a co-star of Welcome Back Kotter, but that's not as sensational.

"HARRY POTTER cast member busted." Another tertiary player.

Again, in the cases of bad things happening to good people, I'm very sorry. But to sensationalize them to this degree is just absurd.

Somehow, just somehow, Fox "News" is behind this trend ...

I'm still trying to figure out who that "Harry Potter Star" was, the 18 year old who was in Half Blood Prince and got knifed to death. The only person I saw that was added to the cast is the blond underwear model, his character was chasing after Hermione, and he's around doing interviews. So ... dunno.

Although I agree with you for the most part, reporting a random dead person who was associated with a TV show is hardly oversensationalizing. Sometimes I see this thread about some sci-fi author or a former Hollywood producer/cameraman/film editor who died, and I ask, "Who?" :confused: When you talk about oversensationalizing, it's more of a TMZ segment like "Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are dating again" or "Britney Spears seen at In & Out Burger."
 
The only thing missing from this thread are heart-felt messages to the family and friends that they will never read, and that are only stated in the first place to boost the poster's ego. Love that. :rolleyes:
 
Shit, people, let's just piss on everyone who wants to take a second and think about it when people die. Obviously their only motive is to be seen and heard and why the hell do they care about someone they don't know, I mean there's never a good reason, so let's just make sure those people realize how wrong they are by acting this way. Piss all over the thread. The dead person's only important if they've never been on TV. They got their reward, right? They committed the crime of being seen on TV and now they're fucking worthless, I get it. How dare we try as a species to think about death, to maybe ruminate on seeing people and knowing what will happen, the sadness that their dreams will never be fulfilled. Holy fucking christ on a cross, those people who think that way must be fucking retarded. Why the fuck do we care about people. As long as I get my TV, fast food, fuck every once in a while, who gives a good goddamn about my neighbor, am I right? I am a rock, I am an island.

I can assure this thread has nothing to do with anyone's ego in any way. If people want to express their sympathies for the person's family and friends, they are most welcome to (even if it's just a way of expressing out one's feelings). Hell, even when Michael Jackson died, fans wept for him although they didn't know him in person. Did I cry? No. Do you have to be someone's wife, husband, mother, father, child, uncle, aunt, cousin, neighbor, friend, schoolteacher, clergy to feel sorry for the dead (or at the very least acknowledge their death)? I think not. I think it's human nature.

I know you're a good person, J., but if you actually gave a damn about people in general dying as much as you say you do you'd go crazy. Some American Idol contestant from years ago gets killed and it's "Boo hoo I'm so sad" and the tears start pouring and the threads start popping, why aren't you sad about the thousands of kids who died someplace in the world today with swollen bellies? I've never seen you start a thread about child poverty and starvation, J., so if people in general dying upsets you as much as you say it does I figured you'd have started one. I see one for Ron Silver, one for Farah Fawcett.... that's it going back two years.

I have plenty of sympathy for the dead, I just don't feel the need to start threads on the Internet to "deal" with it.
