Cupid Escrow Service - aka Holdfast Matchmaking Inc.

I'd personally like it if people could carry on using it to shoot the breeze about love, relationships, etc, etc, but I guess that depends on how many liberties people take with that (and, with that, suddenly everyone's eyes turn to Shameless... ).

Well in the spirit of lovey things, I'm really happy for my brother and his girlfriend, who happens to be one of my best friends. It's funny how these things work sometimes. They've known of each other for years (through me) but it took several failed relationships, years of cynicism, and other things on either side until they even noticed each other in that way.

I've already thought of her as a sister for years now, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I just think it's great when love works in totally unexpected ways. :)

It was Digifan/AdmiralElectron. :shifty:
:lol::bolian:

To both of you. :D

They still don't have a clue, do they...

CUPID STATS:

- about 35 BBS members sent in lists, splitting roughly 2:1 in favour of guys sending them in.
- we got a total of 4 matches.
- the girls were more selective than the guys, sending in an average of about 2-3 on their lists, compared to an average of about 4 on the guys' lists.
- that impacted on the "most nominated" stats, with the 5 most popular guys only having 2 nominations each, whereas the 3 most popular girls have 5 nominations each.
- none of the 3 most popular girls sent in lists (which is why the match rate was so low), but 4 of the most popular guys did.

My conclusion: you're all a very lovey-dovey bunch, but not with the right people. :p

We put the "hopeless" into "hopeless Romantic." :adore:

And it IS remarkable how that disinterest in pursuing a romantic relationship somehow generates ongoing interest from others.
"The Spock Syndrome."

Very true. Our modern cultures seem to generate an inordinate amount of self-esteem problems, quite unfortunately. But it's easy to see why this happens.
There's an epidemic of insecurity. That's why politics and pop culture are in such a degraded state these days.

You mean we were actually supposed to DO something!? :wtf:

I could easily guess the three most popular girls, but I'll pass on that.

I kinda want more matches to confess but I'll assume that, if they wanted to confess, they would have done so already. If they want to just say they got a match without naming the other partner, that would be cool too.

I sent in a list that was sincere, but not meant to actually go anywhere, seeing as I'm taken. I completely wasn't expecting anyone on my list to mention me! But I got a match and was all :alienblush:.

Awkward.

But if nothing else, we at least know that we admire one another and have a connection. My match was a perfect gentleman about the whole thing. :)

Another match...!

It's all good for my clear-up statistics. So many star-crossed lovers, so little time...

Not necessarily. The match could involve the same people if one hadn't sent in their list yet.

Incidentally, what happens if there's a one-crush, two-crushees triangle match? [The game is called off for rain and the Duckworth-Lewis method kicks in? - someone]

I salute your prescience in these matters.

What, like if Amelia loves Byron and Byron loves Amelia, but Amelia also loves Cornelius and Cornelius also loves Amelia?

Well, they all get their escrows completed.

Amelia is told that both Byron and Cornelius love her, but Byron is only told that Amelia loves her, and Cornelius is only told the same.

And then Jeeves makes everyone afternoon tea while Bertie sings a song on the pianoforte.

It's not prescience. I actually know what's going on.

Very Shakespearean. In other words, it's all lies, damned Lysander statistics. Getting to the Bottom of this is enough to give someone a Hermia, for Puck's sake.

Your escrow skills are certainly Oberon above the call of duty. I wouldn't want Titania-ther way. :bolian:
