Moving Advice

Although DC and Baltimore are just next door, the lack of major transportation arties causes each city to keep to itself for the most part. They're different media market, different sport markets...and there's even an Baltimorian accent.

So where you chose to live really depends on where in town the job is. If you work in Northern Virginia, you should live in Northern Virginia or DC (as you'd be going counter-traffic). DC jobs are open to anyone with DC, Arlington, and Alexandria being the most expensive places to live, the outer VA burbs and Maryland burbs are cheaper.

MD jobs, just like VA jobs but reversed.

Also, avoid Prince Georges County, Maryland and certain parts of DC. There are plenty of places in town that they never show in media.

If you wanna know more, just shoot me a message.

This is less true now than it was 10 years ago. We've had an enormous influx of DC workers moving into Baltimore and commuting down either by train or by car. The fact that you can buy a 4-bedroom house in midtown here for less than you would pay a month in rent for a one-bedroom shithole in a decent neighborhood in DC might have a little something to do with it.

This is confined almost entirely to areas frequented by John Waters films.

This is true for Baltimore as well, but reversed. There actually are very nice parts of town where you're not in fact likely to be gunned down or offered smack.

Ditto re: Baltimore/Central Maryland burbs.

Pick a point equidistant between?
