Voted. McCoy is now tied with Spock.

I think his hair style makes him look futuristically hot in that movie.I think I might be the only one here who loves that hair![]()

Glad there's someone else here! The hair, the armour and the moody stare... I love it all!

Okay, I now have to make a public apology for my "Ewwie" comment re: Karl's look in "Chronicles of Riddick." I watched it yesterday--well, actually, I just fast-forwarded to all the parts with him and skipped the rest--and I have to say, he is extremely hot in this movie. Even with the haircut (which I'm still iffy about). I loved his voice in this, although I almost didn't recognize it at first; very deep, with hints of his McCoy accent and the occasional Kiwi inflection popping up. He's like the very definition of the word "smoldering" in this movie.
I did NOT like Thandie Newton in this, though. She was gorgeous, and they definitely had some chemistry (I don't know if any sexier scenes were cut out, since I watched it on TNT), but she was very shrill and got on my nerves. But I would have watched more of her to see more of Lord Vaako.
I didn't mind Thandie Newton. Although, I think they could have made her a little more evil. It would have fit in well with that character.

But to be honest, out of all the characters used/introduced in Chronicles, Thandie and Karl's were the most intriguing and interesting. I also wanted to see more of Judi Dench's character. They could have left Riddick out.
And Karl is hot with the mawhawk-mullet!
Sooo...for Kosh Naranek and anyone else who's going to watch the DVD, I discovered something fun tonight when I looked at my husband's Riddick Trilogy DVD set. Lo and behold if Karl isn't one of the commenters on the commentary version of the movie along with the director and the actress who plays Keira (or whatever Riddick's friend's name is).
I got through about 30 minutes of it tonight. That wonderful New Zealand accent is just the best to listen to. And he comes across as very intelligent and well-spoken. And he has a nice laugh. What a lucky woman his wife is!
^ Agreed. I also think the movie suffered major narrative issues. From the very beginning, it never had a clear motivation but simply played as a series of vignettes edited back to back. The movie had some interesting characters, good ideas, beautiful designs, fascinating concepts and decent special effects but nothing to pull it all together into a cohesive whole. I think with another rewrite and a better director, it could have blown people away.
(This is also the same issue I had with ST: Nemesis. The bones of an excellent story are there but it lost its basic narrative in the hands of a novice director and the needless meddling by the cast, producers and studio. Instead of living up to its potential as an elegant TNG swan song, it became this lumbering behemoth of mediocrity with no real purpose.)

It was nice seeing him on the LotR extra tracks. I wonder if there is a list somewhere of DVD extras that people appear in. Probably not; they get everybody from the stars to the hairdressers on those things...
Karl is always fun to watch or listen to; he's such a hugely likable guy!
