A Monday Puzzler: "Beloved Aunt"

GMC, I see what you're trying to do - seeing as we're now into day 4 and there have been some correct answers (or at least, some correct ways to get the correct answer) I'll allow that, but for the benefit of others who are just coming into this puzzle today, that's enough please.

No more clues from me, therefore. :D

I've got the second puzzle ready, if anyone else is interested. It's along similar lines. ;)

EDIT:
And an update: Seven of Five also got it. :bolian:

I'll hold off updates for now, as I'm going out for a bit. Will be back soon.

I've edited to use spoiler code. I hate to see people in pain for so long. :)

Pain is the cleanser. Thanks. :bolian:

Actually, the code uses a one-time pad based on the Book of Revelations. When decoded it reads; "Hello, this is Nibiru here. I have a message here for Tachyon Shield - the apocalyse has been cancelled due to fog."

It took me forever to figure it out, but at least I can say that I was initially correct about something in the number sequence. Without giving it away, I'll just say that I got the idea from a Sherlock Holmes story called "The Dancing Men."

Oh that'll go down well!
I certainly hope so. :D

That's certainly one way to do it, and it's one of my inspirations.

And you are indeed another winner. :bolian:

I liked this puzzle, and I'm looking forward to the next one. :D

I've had an idea for a similar puzzle myself, but since I have no experience of puzzle-writing, it might either be too easy or too obscure to work out.

I had that problem with the next two puzzles I've been working on. (Yes. TWO.) The next one indeed might be too obscure to some and may require a little research, while the third requires a bit of imagination to visualise what's going on, but also demands some creativity too... and maybe even an artistic bent. :)

you guys practically gave it away and I'm still lost

I can't help thinking that there is some crazy reference I'm missing that is preventing me from ever solving this.

When I see the answer, I'm either going to smack myself for being so stupid, or I'm still not gonna get it.

That's the spirit. :p ;)

I shall reveal all later today.

okay, I think I could solve it now, but I don't have the right tool
and now I think I realize how blatantly obvious Zion has been this whole time :D

It's like I said earlier - whether or not you twig the solution is purely down to luck; it isn't something you can work out, or experiment with, or make partial progress with. Some people will twig very quickly, while some may never do, and until you do it is totally inaccessible. In that sense it is an imbalanced question. But nevertheless, it is fun if/when you have solved it :)

See I was thinking along the lines of

Using your dial pad on a cellphone or telephone but that led to nowhere. I think it has something to do with.

Edit: Still don't have it. :(
