Janice Rand's hairdo in HD

Janice cast a furtive, desperate glance over her shoulder - she could feel the heat of the approaching Horta as it burned through the rock like a laser through butter. Of all the ways it could've ended; why this way? Why not in the cool of an alien tree with a cold Romulan ale in her hand, JT lounging next to her, wearing only that impish grin of his? She could hear shouting far away like in a dream. Why wasn't she dead already? She slowed, and doubled over from the sudden exhaustion. She looked down to see the heels of both her boots missing. She hadn't felt them break off. She looked back again and gasped. The Horta was examining the black heel of one of her boots, it had already incinerated the other. It's curiosity had gotten the best of it. She pushed a blonde strand of hair out of her eye. The coif she labored over so long now tumbled every which way. She had thought she'd be glad to die looking well. . .

Until DS9, all the Trek women had outrageous hair. After DS9, the hair became more believable. A woman of action needs sensible hair.

Janice cast a furtive, desperate glance over her shoulder - she could see the approaching, remastered Gorn as it lumbered towards her, blinking in magnificent CGI, over a dusty vasquez of rocks. Janice looked about, but could see no diamonds, coal or sulfur to make herself a cannon, so she detached her basketweave hair bun and tossed it at the Gorn, knocking him out cold.

Janice smiled. Hair today, Gorn tomorrow.

^^ Great One Therin! I'm hoping for one where the bun o' steel fails . . .:rommie:

Any one else want to take a whack at it? Understandably daunting as Therin has raised the bar so high . . .

I nominate Therin of Andor for the Janice Rand Award for Best Use of the Bun of Steel in a Short Story.

I noticed the Basket Weave hairdo and I was watching on HULU, lol I contemplated doing the same to my hair, but it seems inconcievable.

Oh, that took me back...

The TNG actresses' hair looked so much better (and sensible) when the show started than it did later on. Troi's was best in TNG's Year 2. Never as good since...

Wearing wigs was a fashion statement in the late 1960's and early 1970's--kinda like dying streaks in hair is now. Back then, men and women would wear them even if they didn't need 'em, and celebrities did the same--just like Deforest Kelly in some episodes. In the 70's, my mom used to wear big bouffant wigs even though she had a full head of hair.
