Make believe AK's and grenades? I didn't see anything remotely like that... There was a play about spiritual warfare with some kids dressed up to look like soldiers, but they didn't have anything like that. They had some sticks to add some interest to their dance..

Oh, well then there was certainly absolutely no problem with that. If I was directing it, I would have done the costume differently. Had them in armor and with a sword, but that's just me!

Saw that Jesus Camp stuff ages ago and it made me so mad. I just wanted to beat the shit out of all those people.
Such camps are real, and they really do teach things like this. And the documentary is really no different than some of the anti-Muslim, anti-Jew and other anti-religious "documentaries" I've seen Christians put out before either. You can always find a fringe group like this to promote an agenda or that fulfills a need to demonize an opposing group.
But I find these particular Christian camps more dangerous seeing as they are "home grown" and not some other country far away and less likely to do damage to the U.S. than they would their own country. Not that fringe groups who promote dangerous and extreme takes on their beliefs aren't a concern, they are just less of a concern than those who are in your home country and talking about doing some of the things you hear about in these documentaries.
Once again, to make it clear (even clear as glass, some people still won't see) I don't believe all or even most camps are like this but that doesn't mean this is the only one of it's kind.

What was wrong with the camp in the documentary? Granted the pastor's preaching style was grating, but that's all I can think of besides what I already mentioned.
I went to a "Fine Arts" camp that was run by our church when I was in grade school. It was actually pretty solid-- the focus was on learning new skills so you signed up for "classes" in whatever instrument or fine arts focus you wanted to as part of the summer camp. Really great program-- and yes, there was open praying and singing of religious songs, but it was a great experience growing up because the focus was on art and the pursuit of knowledge.

I've worked in Bible camps before, they aren't secret freaky militia training camps, for the most part they're Sunday school with s'mores.

Mainly just an excuse to get rid of the kids, my parents aren't even Christians and neither am I anymore

Same here but y'all are forgetting the macaroni "sculptures" and the plaster hand prints.
Also the weak kool aid and/or lemonade, baloney sandwiches, primitive rest facilities, and worn out army-barracks style bunk beds.One thing I find odd about the one I attended was that it was on the banks of a fast moving deep river with no fence. Perfect location for a couple hundred 6-12yo's, lol. I guess times were different then.
