MOVIES that never were...

There have been several TREK movie ideas over the years that were either rumors, or actually nearly made. Can you think of some of the better one? Planet of the Titans, oft discussed here, is one of them for sure...but what are some of the other ones?

Recently, and I don't remember if I saw it here or elsewhere, somebody mentioned De pitched a movie idea to Meyer post TUC, a reprise of the outstanding Richard Brooks western THE PROFESSIONALS w/ Kirk & co rushing off to rescue a kidnapped Uhura. I had never heard of that, so that is of nearly as much interest to me as TITANS.

Totally agree. They could have added Uhura's very young AND sexy niece so as to attract the teen set. I could see this..Kirk/company, even spock, risking their 'all' to rescue Uhura...love the idea!!!

Roddenberry's recurring favorite: for some reason, the Enterprise crew travels back in time to prevent the assassination of JFK; naturally, in order for the timeline to remain uncontaminated, they end up having to cause his death instead. The script at one point features Spock on the grassy knoll, firing the magic bullet.

Roddenbery pitched this idea several times.

Why is everyone thinking in those stoopid business ways lately?

Probably because of all those folks in the abrams forum who now define the word 'good' by citing 375 million gross or whatever the hell it is.

is there something wrong with having cute sexy girls in a star trek movie? I hope not. Because, as it turns out, Star Trek-fans are not known for their ability to even talk with the opposite sex, or heck even the same sex, with out coming off as, well, dorky.

Oh well...you can't lead a horse to water...

Naah, I think the other poster was just thinking LCD mindset, and I was suggesting a framework to support it.

The girl WOULD be a good idea for a TOS in the early 90s, since we could have had Kirk dealing with her the way BondWannabe Roger Moore dealt with Lyn Holly-Johnson in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. "put your clothes back on, darling, and I'll buy you an ice cream cone ... "

Meh I like Moore Bond more he used the gadgets more.

His Bond needed them.

That concept Enterprise has a slightly NX-01 feel to it.

You know if they had actually go through with that movie and still did Enterprise there would probably have been a fan theory that the Enterprise in the Starfleet academy was a massively refited NX-01 Enterprise.

I just had a very nice conversation, in fact several, with members of the opposite sex today :)

Maybe some others here can "lead a horse to water but can't make it drink".

Or was your misquoting this old adage an ironic and deliberate jest?:rommie:
