Why would anyone be scared, though? I go to an extremely fundamentalist, evangelical, Pentecostal church, I've never seen anyone have any kind of fear there ever. I've certainly seen people cry their eyes out, as have I. It's a beautiful thing. It's just tears of overwhelming joy.

Oh, this was fear. I wasn't scared per se, but lots of other children were. We were told how if we didn't accept Jesus right then, we could be lost to the ways of the world and that when Jesus returned he would have to send us to hell and he would cry doing it because we would feel eternal pain and punishment day and night forever. Scared some kids crapless.

As I said that has everything to do with bad leaders and/or mental illness. Nothing to do with camp or Christianity.

So? Creating fear is completely contrary to Christian doctrine. Anything can be used to create fear by bad leadership.

What are you driving at, Michael? All I have said is that yes it can happen at a Bible camp, and that I experienced something similar at a Bible Camp.

So my answer in a thread about a Bible Camp referring to the actions of said Bible Camp are completely immaterial since my answer spoke about a Bible Camp I attended that was similar to the Bible Camp mentioned in the original post about Bible Camp?

I'm not saying they all do, just the one that I visited, and I have seen and heard similar from others. I would never say they are all like that or that the majority are like that, but they do exist, and I have seen them.

I was sent to a summer camp only once. It was a Christian-oriented camp, and neither I nor my parents knew this when they sent me. It was simply recommended to them and I went along with it. Now, I am sure it was nowhere near as bad as those seen in the documentary mentioned in this thread. It was overall pretty low key. But there were certainly some elements that seriously creeped me out, since I wasn't religious at all. And once it came out that I wasn't religious, the other kids gave me an incredibly rough time. It was not a fun experience for the most part, but that was mostly my parents' fault for not doing any real research beforehand.
I'm sure that they do, but I just want people to be aware that fear should not accompany anything based on God.
I've started to watch that documentary, about half way through. Have noticed a couple of problems. Mainly the intercoupling of politics and faith. And the fact that they prayed in tongues aloud. I firmly believe that praying in tongues is not to be done for others or oneself, but purely for God. It does not edify the body of Christ, and it does not glorify God. Other than that, I haven't noticed much. Well the hostility and the inaccuracies of what the radio host said.
Oh, and the rap during one of the services. Seriously that sucked.
What about those kids in the ''Christian Soldier'' camo with the make-belive AK's and grenades? I dont see christ supporting that.
