In New York for two days...

...so what do I do during the daytime? I'm going to swing by the Museum of Cartooning and Comic Art. I'm going to see the Mets and Yanks play baseball at night. I've been to New York before and I've been to Radio City, Lady Liberty, and the Empire State Building, the basics.

Looking for suggestions. Food. Film. Sports. Music. Whatever.

Well, you're not going to see the Mets or Yanks play in the next 2 days since it's the all-star break, unless you're staying for a while.

I was impressed by a tour of the United Nations building. I don't know how many people choose to do that but it was well worth the small fee.

That was one of my favorite things to do. Tour was great!

If you're into ships and planes, check out the USS Intrepid museum. I could have spent all day there.

Another vote for the Intrepid Museum. The museum is actually an aircraft carrier you get to go on! Aside from that, the only thing that really interests me is the Central Park Zoo but as I dimly recall it's pretty small.

There's always the Bronx Zoo

I'll actually be going there in a couple weeks! But I thought this was a Manhatten only type question

scarab, do you have your Yankee tickets yet? If not, when you get them, make sure they are in the right field bleachers (Sections 202 and 203). Then you can sit with these fine folk.

I did that last May. It was literally a life changing experience for me, it was so much fun. Yankee games are not complete without them!

Also, scarab, make sure you eat lunch at Katz's Deli. It's my favorite place to eat in the whole city. It's easy to get there, too, just take the F train to Lower East Side/2nd Avenue station.

Other things I like to do when I'm in the city:

- Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge

- Ride around the harbor on the Staten Island Ferry (it's free and has nice views)

- Visit the Transit Museum in Brooklyn Heights

- Take a riverboat cruise all the way around Manhattan (takes about three hours)

- Go see a Broadway show. I saw South Pacific last time I was there. Check out telecharge or ticketmaster to see what's playing.

You may want to check out the Metropolitan Museum of Art even if you don't like art all that much. It's a cool place. If you're into Shakespeare they have plays in Central Park of his work (King Lear and The Winter's Tale at the moment, IIRC).
