Vance, your ships are totally fantastic. :techman: They seem to come to life with the color that you have added to them. Keep up the great work and keep on trekkin. :techman::techman:

Forgive my ignorance... But how exactly is the Endeavor Class and Truxton Class any different than the good 'ol Constitution class?
Just 0 or 1 photon torpedo launchers instead of 2? Different nacelles?

It is undeniably high quality illustration work, but those two designs don't make much sense to me, since they are virtually identical to existing canon classes.

Just because ships are visually similar (or even identical) does not mean that they aren't completely different classes. The phrase "it's what inside that counts" applies to vessels (and any other form of equipment) just as it does people. While individual ships within a class can vary internally quite a bit, truly significant differences will push for a different classification to eliminate confusion. If the Truxton and Endeavour classes are sufficiently different internally, it makes sense that they be considered separate classes, even if they started out as Constitution class ships.

Note also in the real world, some US Navy cruisers were downgraded to destroyers. Same hull, just internal differences in equipment, yet reclassified to whole different type!

What are the origins for the Endeavor and Truxton classes?

I take it they were supposedly a post-TOS-era design.

On the Larson front view, shouldn't the pylon connections be brought in a bit to match the top view, where the rear section is narrower than the widest part of the saucer?

Endeavor is out of the Ships of the Star Fleet/Federation Reference Series groups of Treknology works.

And I think that they based the Endeavor on a Mike Minor painting that was done early on in the Enterprise redesign process for Phase II/TMP.

I've always liked the Loknar type... Damnit! now I have to go dig up my old Star Trek RPG and accessories!

WOO HOO! :)
