Well, I forked over fourteen bucks in advanced to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at the local IMAX yesterday.

It was stupid, offensive, and I could have gone my whole life without seein' John Turtorro's bare ass on an IMAX screen. I've never before heard a theater full of people go "EEEWW!!!" at the same time.

Of course, there will be another sequel, but I won't be wastin' my money on it.

So, add it to my list.

I'm glad that I finally found three and a half hours to sit down and watch Seven Samurai in one sitting. George Lucas has stated that this film was partially the inspiration for Star Wars, and I can totally see that- the way that some of the action shots were constructed is almost exactly like how he handled those type of shots in the trilogy. I was surprised to see the trademark Star Wars "wipe" shot to cut from scene to scene was also taken from this movie!

I've only seen two movies in the theatre this year:
Star Trek
Watchmen

On DVD, I've seen quite a few - probably close to 100 films. Most of them were classic (pre-1965) films however, so I won't bother typing them out as most people around here don't know and don't care about them. I'll just say that I watched alot of Paul Newman pictures this year (for obvious reasons), alot of Tyrone Power pictures (he had a huge boxed set of films come out this past year), alot of Truffaut films (got on a kick), alot of John Mills films (tons came out in the UK this past year as it was his centennial birthday), alot of Dirk Bogarde films (another kick), and several Sean Connery films (he was Star of the Month for May on TCM).

"Modern" movies I've seen this year on DVD:

Underworld: Evolution (looking at BigFoot's avatar every day for about 4 years FINALLY broke me down )

I'm goin' out tomorrow night to check out Star Trek again, and will be havin' a viewin' party for the director's cut of Watchmen when it comes out.

LOVE THAT MOVIE!

Oh, my god, one of the best James Garner movies, ever.

I keep meanin' to watch the psuedo-sequel, Support Your Local Gunfighter, but I just haven't gotten to it.

Support Your Local Gunfighter is good too, but Support Your Local Sheriff is better, IMO. Although your mileage may vary.

IMO, the best 'comedy' western ever made. Doesn't rely on juvenile 'guy humor' like Blazing Saddles. It's just good old fashion FUNNY.

I love the part where he explains about the jail with no bars, and how 'we're just gonna operate as if there WERE bars, and everything will be fine."

James Garner is, IMO, one of the best (and perhaps one of the most under-recognized) comic actors ever.

Push - Eh, okay. Didn't deserve the trashing it got in the reviews when released. Or maybe Heroes makes it look more coherent by comparison?

Just seen "The Hangover" in the cinema: it is actually really funny. I'd recommend it if you want to zone out for a couple of hours, ha.
