Resident Evil: Afterlife confirmed

Are these movies really making money?
Yep, they've been very profitable, and the worldwide gross has gone up with each film:

Resident Evil - $102.4 million worldwide ($33 million production budget)
Resident Evil: Apocalypse - $129.4 million worldwide ($45 million production budget)
Resident Evil: Extinction - $147.7 million worldwide ($45 million production budget)

^ Actually it was believed for a while that they weren't going to continue the Genesis/Apocalypse/Extinction storyline because they couldn't get Mila to sign on for it.

Pffh, you believed that? I remember after Extinction came out, right after it came out anyways, that Mila wouldn't be back. That it would take over with Ali Larter and the survivors going to Alaska.

It didn't take too long for the wind to change on that though. Up until now everything was rumor but it's like that unsaid "yeah, it's gonna happen" type thing where we just waited for a confirmation.

Ming Na as Ada Wong killing every Alice in the movie. I'll go see that.

Fuck yes! With Leo DiCaprio as Leon Kennedy.

I don't want Alice or stupid clones of Alice or all the other crap this series threw at us. I want a damn reboot that follows the plot from the games. STAT. I want Chris and Jill and Barry and Wesker and that little medic girl in the fucking mansion, killing zombies and giant animals with something kind of resembling a plot. And NO ALICE. That's what I want. That's the only thing I've ever wanted. I'll continue to hold out hope. But I fear that Uwe Boll-lite hack Anderson has ruined the name brand for generations. So that will probably never happen. Leave it to American Hollywood horseshit to ruin one of the few things out of Japan that I like.

I actually like these movies. Never really cared for the games, so that might be why. :rommie:

So... what are the odds Mila going to be in this one?

Considering Resident Evil was Paul WS Andersons attempt to get Mila into bed (and it worked) and the next two films were about how wonderful his fiance is, i would say its pretty much guaranteed. No doubt we will be shown again how great she is and why every man in the world should love her as much as Anderson.

Milla's going to be starring in the next one, too, by the sound of it. Here's a paparazzi video of her where they ask her how her baby's doing and then about the next RS film.

It will never happen not for lack of trying but because SONY and CAPCOM won't sign off on it. Both George A Romero and Paul W.S. Anderson presented scripts (Romero went so far as having his assistant play through each of the games available at the time to get a feel for them while he watched) that followed the plot of the first game closely - except Romero's version had the zombies as being unable to be killed. Sony and Capcom both said no because they were worried that a direct remake of the games would hurt the sales of the games themselves.

I heard a slightly different story that Romero's script was so terrible it would have hurt sales too. I don't remember unkillable zombies being involved, just a really bad screenplay.

The screenplay did make some changes - Chris was an environmental scientist, he was dating Jill - but the zombies were unkillable I'm afraid. They were more Return of the Living Dead than Night of the Living Dead.

Eh, I've enjoyed all of them. I'm not a purist, so I don't really are if a movie follows the plot of a game/comic/tv series. I say, bring it on and wrap things up!
