DS9 on TV

I apologize if this has been covered but I went back a couple pages and didn't see anything.

Spike (somewhat) recently stopped airing DS9. Is there any plan for Spike (or another channel in the future) to bring DS9 back to TV?

I do not know the answer to your question.

But I recommend not watching DS9 on TV channels like Spike because of its massively-butchered content when it airs on TV. DS9 is best watched as it was meant to be, uncut with all of its content intact, which you won't be getting from watching it on TV.

I agree w/Nav, but its good to have DS9 out there b/c luke warm Trekkies may not buy the DVD set.

Send some emails to Paramount and Sci Fi and see what happens

Well in Canada they show it on "Space" almost every day. I watched seasons 2 to 5 that way and it was really fun. I'm quite certain they never edited anything out of it. I'm not sure about the U.S., but that's a shame if it's not showing there. I'd assumed that the science fiction channel, which I believe is the American equivalent of "Space", would be showing it at some point.

The Scifi Channel (or "Syfy" or whatever) doesn't and has no plans to, as far as I know (although they do run ENT according to their site). Which is a shame. I can find reruns of TNG S1, TOS, but never DS9. Bleh.

This has always been a mystery to me. I mean Spike TV for the longest time was re-running Voyager five days a week then WGN and Sci-Fi are airing TNG alot and I'm sure somewhere TOS is being re-ran and finally ENT is being re-run five days a week. But it seems to me that when it comes to DS9 syndication is far and few between.

I seem to recall Spike TV airing DS9 at around 1 am but I don't recall the show in syndication being shown.

DS9 and Voyager aren't being shown in the USA right now unfortunately.

Since Spike stopped showing them they haven't found a new home...yet.

I bet DS9 could pick up a lot of new fans if they’d sell the DVDs at a reasonable price. $300 is too much for a little-known series that floated around #100 in the ratings.

I seem to recall that Spike has the exclusive ownership rights for DS9 until Summer 2010 and Voyager until 2011. I remember it from one of the announcement articles when TNN bought it.

About two years ago Fry's Electronics & Price Costco were selling each season of DS9 for around $50.00. Naturally I bought every season eventually. I found that price at both locations to be a fluke but recently Fry's Electronics is selling every season of TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT for around $50.00 a season. So the price really has come down lately which means I might actually start getting TNG.

nx - I recall that as well.

I checked Amazon.com and they have 3rd party vendors selling the entire collection "like new" for $236... that's a pretty good deal.
