Favorite Spock lines

M.Robison

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I looked for two hours for any topics on this, so if I missed it I apologize.

My son is expected to be born on Sunday, so in anticipation of spending a lot of time with him I watched everything I have in my Trek collection from TOS to DS9 and the movies.

What is your favorite Spock one-liner or dialouge from all of the Trek universe?

I'll Start with this:

Spock: Must we?
Kirk: It's faster than walking.
Spock: But not as safe.
Kirk: Are you afraid of cars?
Spock: Not at all, Captain. It is your driving that alarms me.

-A Piece of the Action

(Although the "Enterprise, this is Koik" line makes me laugh myself silly)

"If I were human, I believe my response would be, 'Go to hell.' --If I were human."

The gag has been done more than once, but Spock did it first and best.

Kirk: You were actually enjoying that predicament back there. At times you seem quite human.
Spock: Captain, I hardly believe that insults are in your line as my commanding officer.

That, and the line in my signature.

"I think you're both going to be insufferably pleased with yourselves for at least a month...SIR."

- "Friday's Child"

"You may find having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting. It is not logical but often true", Amok Time.

I may have butchered it a bit though...

Referring to Sulu in The Naked Time- "Take d'Artagnan here to sickbay."

Good call!

I just love the way delivers this in "All Our Yesterdays" when Zarabeth thinks she's losin' it: "Listen to me. I am firmly convinced that I do exist. I am substantial. You are not imagining this."

Very Cartesian.

Also I like when he compliments Uhura fixing the comm panel under stress in "Adonais"; she says she hasn't done something like that in years, and Spock nicely responds, "I can think of no one better equipped to handle it, Miss Uhura. Please proceed."

Nice.

From "The Apple":
SAYANA: (placing the equivalent of a lei around Spock's wrist.)
KIRK: Well, it does something for you.
SPOCK: Yes, indeed it does, Captain. It makes me uncomfortable.

"Opinions Mr. Spock?"
"Bad poetry Captain."
"A more useful comment Mr. Spock."

From Catspaw. :techman::guffaw:

I can't do all the dialogue, but from The Naked Time, when he's losing it in the briefing room. I especially like: "When I feel friendship for you, I'm ashamed."

The whole sequence is very powerful, and gave such tremendous insight to his character.

Also, from This Side of Paradise:
"For the first time in my life, I was truly happy."

and:
"Tribbles do have one redeaming quality: They don't talk too much."

The Kirk and Spock exchange in This Side of Paradise:
No, I don't think so...
You don't think so *what*
I don't think so...SIR

My favorite is the one already used by Too Much Fun from Friday's Child.

"I love you...and I hate you."

- "I, Mudd"

"Edith Keeler must die".

- "The City on the Edge of Forever"

I think they'd both be great sound clips to put at the beginning of a song. :) High five, Possum. You have good taste. Spock's facial expression when he says that is priceless.
