Favorite Spock lines

Nice to know the new writers have still got the Spock touch. :bolian:

Now if only they'd still had the Kirk touch...

___________________________________________________________

Great Spock quotes:

Kirk: Well, there it is - war. We didn't want it, but we've got it.
Spock: It is curious how often you humans manage to obtain that which you do not want.
'Errand of Mercy'

I am endeavoring, ma'am, to construct a mnemonic circuit using stone knives and bearskins.
City on the Edge of Forever

Bailey: I happen to have a human thing called an adrenal gland.
Spock: That sounds most inconvenient. Have you considered having it removed?
The Corbomite Manoeuver

Spock: I am what I am, Leila, and if there are self-made purgatories, then we all have to live in them. Mine can be no worse than someone else's.
This Side of Paradise

Kirk: What would you say the odds are on our getting out of here?
Spock: It is difficult to be precise, Captain. I should say approximately 7824.7 to one.
Kirk: Difficult to be precise? 7824 to one?
Spock: 7824.7 to one.
Kirk: That's a pretty close approximation.
Spock: I endeavour to be accurate.
Errand of Mercy

Spock: The birds and the bees are not Vulcans, Captain. If they were - if any creature as proudly logical as us - were to have their logic ripped from them as this time does to us... How do Vulcans choose their mates? Haven't you ever wondered?
Kirk: I guess the rest of us assume that it's done quite logically.
Spock: No. It is not.
Amok Time

T'Pau: Live long and prosper, Spock.
Spock: I shall do neither. I have killed my captain, and my friend.
Amok Time

Oxmyx: Kracko's put the bag on your captain.
Spock: Why would he put a bag on the captain?
A Piece of the Action

Spock: Random chance seems to have operated in our favor.
McCoy: In plain, non-Vulcan English, we've been lucky.
Spock: I believe I said that, Doctor.
The Doomsday Machine

And one of the best sarcastic bastard lines of all time - about Apollo:
Spock: Verbose, isn't he?
Who Mourns for Adonais?

Spock: Random chance seems to have operated in our favor.
McCoy: In plain, non-Vulcan English, we've been lucky.
Spock: I believe I said that, Doctor.
The Doomsday Machine
Oh yes, I love all the times he says "I believe I said that". I think it happened about 2 or 3 times on the show?

S: Doctor, if I were able to show emotion, your new infatuation with that term would begin to annoy me.
M: What term? 'Logic'? Medical men are trained in logic, Mr. Spock.
S: Really, Doctor? I had no idea you were trained. Watching you, I assumed it was trial and error.

To Picard:
S: I always had a different vision than my father...the ability to see beyond pure logic. He considered it...weak. But I have discovered it to be a source of extraordinary strength.

I like the hell dialogue:

GILLIAN - "Who the hell are you? What were you doing in there?!"
KIRK - "You heard the lady!"
SPOCK - "Attempting the hell to communicate."

...

SPOCK - "They like you very much. But they are not the hell your whales."
GILLIAN - "I suppose they told you that...?"
SPOCK - "The hell they did."

...

KIRK - "About those colorful metaphors we discussed. I don't think you should try to use them."
SPOCK - "Why not?"
KIRK - "Well, for one thing, you haven't quite got the hang of it."
SPOCK - "I see."
KIRK - "And another thing... It is not always necessary to tell the truth. "
SPOCK - "I cannot tell a lie."
KIRK - "You don't have to lie... You could exaggerate."
SPOCK - "Exaggerate."
KIRK - "You've done it before. Can't you remember?"
SPOCK - "The hell I can't"

From The Voyage Home:

Kirk: Spock, you're half-human! Don't you have any goddamn feelings about that?

Scotty: He's in a wee bit of a snit this morning, isn't he?

Spock: Aye. He is a man of deep feelings.

Or something like that.

Still from Voyage Home:

Gillian: Do you boys like Italian?

Kirk: Yes.

Spock: No.

Kirk: Yes.

Spock: No.

Kirk: Yes.

Spock: No.

Kirk: I love Italian, and so do you.

Spock: ...yes.
