The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoilers)

Re: The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoil

Consider the source. This is tabloid nonsense.

Very good! So many people think this is true, it's not even close to being any type of truth. The fact so many people fall for this garbage is sickening to me that the human race is that dumb.

It was already said that Robin will never ever be added as long as what's his name is directing. I'm not even a Batman fan and I know that.

Exactly. They're just trying to sell newspapers.

However..this is an old Rumor...so you never know..

Rob

Um... you did notice that thread was necroed, right? This is the same thread as the one for the original, that was of course brought up with an inane comment that added nothing to thread.

And Eddie Murphy will be in ST IV, too! ;)

Re: The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoil

As I said in a related post, I would prefer a Riddler or villain that doesn't overshadow Bale. Eddie Murphy would do that. But I do think Eddie Murphy could do the role. He showed me something in Dreamgirls, that he can mix comedy and drama quite well. With the right material Eddie could perhaps be a good villain.

Re: The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoil

I don't think Johnny Depp could be cast now that Depp and Bale have already squared off against each other in "Public Enemies". It's the same as how I knew there was no way Hugh Jackman could be Two-Face (a rumour at one point) after he and Bale had starred in "The Prestige" together. It would just seem too repetitive to audiences and Nolan is undoubtedly more imaginative when it comes to casting.

I don't even know what 'necroed' is. And I don't really care why you think someone responded to a thread. If I were you, I would worry about important things OTHER than words like 'necroed'. Your life might be less stressful and more flowers would bloom.

And...staying on target (which is the purpose around here, or so I thought), If Nolan thinks Eddie Murphy can do it..then I'm all for it.

I don't even know what 'necroed' is.

It's short for "necroposted," referring to the resurrection of an old, "dead" thread (necro- is a prefix meaning dead). This thread has been inactive since December 19, 2008. OdoWanKenobi's point is that the resurrection of this dead thread has nothing to do with any new information about this old rumor; it's just that someone decided to dredge up this long-defunct thread and make a random comment for some reason.

Re: The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoil

I wonder why two Batman threads that are basically about the same thing were resurrected at the same time. I was really excited that there was new casting news and then disappointed...twice!

I don't think that would be the reason why Jackman wouldn't be Two-Face. I think it would have more to do with the fact that he was Wolverine.

Re: The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoil

I don't want Eddie Murphy or The Riddler.

Re: The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoil

^Then you have no need to worry. It's a silly rumor that was debunked six months ago. At this point, we don't even know if there's going to be a third Christopher Nolan Batman movie. He planned a Joker-centric third film, and Heath Ledger's death derailed that and hit him rather hard personally, so at the moment, there is absolutely no plan for the third movie and it's possible that Nolan won't even make it. And that's news from this past week. Which makes this casting rumor from six months ago even stupider in retrospect.

Yeah, that too. :) I'm sure a sequel to "The Dark Knight" will happen whether Nolan is involved or not. It's not like Hollywood is going to be like, "If Christopher Nolan feels he doesn't want to add anything more to the story he's told over the last two Batman movies, we will leave it as is out of respect for his artistic integrity and leave Batman alone until someone comes along with a fresh new perspective to start a new storyline with a new cast". Especially after that box office gross.

Much like "X-Men: The Last Stand", someone will probably just come in and try to tie up all the loose ends. Even with a different director and bad word of mouth, it'll probably open huge just out of curiosity about what happens after the events of "The Dark Knight" (as was the case with "Spider-Man 3"succeeding financially despite its poor choices of how to tie up loose ends). We'd just have to hope this is done by people with a lot more talent, vision, and imagination than the people who put together that sequel.

Re: The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoil

Wow...this thread is funny...first thing wrong with the sun report...Chris Nolan is in the middle of making his sci-fi flick Inception IIRC is supposed to come out in 2010. Plus he's said in all the interview blurbs that have asked him about a sequel that IF A STORY THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH COMES ALONG then he would consider it. Christian Bale during the press junket for Public Enemies has also stated that he doubts a third Batman film would happen soon unless Chris is presented with a good enough story that he thinks should be made. I think I read something last week from David Goyer where he said something similar. Look...it was three years and one movie between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I think everyone should just calm down and enjoy the movies that are coming out...I'm sure when something presents its self we will hear about it and the internet will break in half like it usually does.

Re: The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoil

So far, regarding the rumored third Batman film, I have heard:

- Cher as an older Catwoman

- Rachel Weisz as a younger Catwoman

- and now Eddie Murphy as the Riddler

What's next - Johnny Knoxville as the Riddler?
Perez Hilton?

Re: The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoil

If I had my way, David Hyde Pierce would play The Riddler. I don't give a damn how old he is.

Re: The Riddler for the next Batman movie is cast and it's.... (spoil

Did you hear the rumour that he actually met the people currently behind the Batman movie franchise to discuss playing that exact role in a future movie at some point during the production of "The Dark Knight"? Sounded like a really weird and rather absurd idea to cast him in that role, but I thought the same thing when I heard Ledger was being considered for The Joker, so you can never be sure what might work.
