Starliner Pod
Based on a design by Franz Joseph

Well, I haven't settled on rates yet. But I'll keep the Adamant in mind if you throw a donation. :) Right now I need to finish the FJ 'uprated' stuff still, which is why I'm doing the pods...

So why the "impulse deflection crystal" on the starliner pod but not the bulk cargo one? Does the starliner have impulse engines but the cargo pod doesn't? Or do you envision some other purpose for the blue glowy circle?

Correct, the Starliner pod (and others which focus on habitation) does indeed have an impulse drive of its own. The cargo-only pods (aside from maintenance/loading staff) don't have one.

I always heard that GR came up with the edicts to discredit the FJ designs. I don't think he ever "signed off" on them. Can someone correct me if I heard this wrong?

It wasn't just Franz Joseph that Roddenberry wanted to discredit. At the time, the other source of 'tech' information for Star Trek was primarily the FASA RPG (for better or worse). While the edicts were most obviously and specifically geared to discredit the Technical Manual, that wasn't the only target. Really, all it was was that Roddenberry wanted to take Trek back out of the hands that he, himself, had sold it to over a decade earlier.

And yes, Roddenberry did indeed personally sign off on the contents of the Technical Manual before its release, and only started speaking ill of it when the internal politics of TMP were going against him.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was never sure on the details.

ok then thanks :)

OK, I'll be the first to ask. What's the control panel looking thing on the starboard side of the primary hull seen in the top view?

Edit - Just realized, shuttlebay? Aren't you afraid of being chastised for breaking the great unwritten symmetry rule?;)

Jackill came up with that saucer shuttlebay location YEARS ago. Vance is just quoting it.

Constitution Class (Uprated)
Based on a design by Matt Jefferies and Andrew Probert
(Granted, the blue on this is a bit more intense on this than it probably should be, particularly in the secondary hull, but I was going off the models less than the film print, which really overwashes everything. I may have to revisit this.)

I think the darker blue on the hull makes it look more Lovely

One the one hand, I know that should be softer and grayer to be like most of the movies, but on the other, I actually kind of like it (and it's a little closer to how the ship looks sometimes in TUC).

I like that a lot. One critique though: I think you might want to rotate the saucer phaser mounts aft to allow for some aft coverage since the nacelles are below the saucer now. I'd rotate the beam mounts aft by 45 and the port and starboard bow mounts aft by 22.5 degrees to cover the beam positions. That should give her a little more punch to the aft quarters. That's just my opinion. I think overall she looks like a major bruiser that's got some nice lines and I love that you dropped the dreadnought designation in lieu of the more accurate battleship designator.

What Bird Dog said :)

Well, she's got the aft phasers above the shuttlebay already. I pondered doubling them up to be pairs, but left them as the single units to balance things out. The ship's a little weak in the aft quarter (though not too bad, really)... but remember they can 'pivot at warp two!'. :)

Wouldn't it be better to have the images show views from "below" and "behind" as well? Maybe split the dorsal image to be half and half and the front image half and half? At least for the ships which are nearly symmetric.

Nice designs.

However, will you still be working on any Star Fleet Universe ships for ADB, also?

(Shots of the Vincennes-class CX would be great to see... whichever way it turned out one was able to see them.)

Here's an alternate take on the Jenghiz, which I was considering for the torpedo mount (one I use for other ships like the Loknar). I decided to see what Andrew Probert's suggestion would look like this time and flipped the nacelle orientation as well. Still, I'm far from settled on this class at the moment...

SWEET!:D:techman:

Glad you made the DN 2ndary hull bigger than a CH's! That's always been my pet peeve about movie-era DNs.
