It was great fun to infect our son with the Trek bug - he grew up with TNG/DS9 and VOY. Data provided a lot of fodder for discussion - he's almost childlike in some of his innocence about human behavior. Tribbles and Devil In The Dark are great ones for kids! The pink space dog who had the transporter accident - not so much!

Ok just don't let this biological clock thingy skew your view of appropriate partners! Besides if you're as young as you say...then you have plenty of time...and if one day you've found you've run out of time....then get a dog....LOL they make good kid substitutes.

Your daughter will be thanking your wife (or should). Her hearing is far too sensitive to expose her to the SPLs of a blockbuster film at the local cinema (unless you were planning on going to the "mommies and babies" showing, where the volume is way down).I can't wait to introduce my daughter to Trek. She's still a little young --16 months-- and my wife wouldn't let me take her to the movie.
Beyond that, the audience will thank your wife as well. A screaming toddler in a movie that is not aimed at young children ranks among the most annoying intrusions into movie watching that I can think of.

Yep, same here, the Mrs wants us to wait for the DVD before our two year old sees it so we can skip a few of the action bits she didn't like. All the camera shaking on a huge screen would probably be a bit much too.
My boy can't say "Enterprise", but he can say "Kirk", "Spock", "Bones" (his favourite), "phaser" - and a communicator to him is "Kirk phone"

We just watched Shore Leave last weekened. My son was actually not happy when Bones died. I didn't want to ruin it for him, so I just told him that these things happened. Then, at the end when McCoy came back with the babes, he was happy!!!! (so was I)

Oh yeah, they're lizard aliens, that's been known for quite some time. No-one really cares too much anymore. It could have been worse. I mean, we all knew they were something, so lizards wasn't too bad. We're quite open-minded, us Brits.

The stories in this thread are so cute that it almost hurts me. And I don't even think I want kids. I worked at a few day cares as a teen, though, and have had my share of that special brand of zaniness that only kids can conjure. Gotta love it!
