The Sequel Hints for Improving Trek (S.H.I.T.) List

Well ,this is what i would like them to improve/add in the sequel :

- Less shaky/rotating/swirling camera like the camera crew has a seizure.
- Moar meaty giant alien like creatures .
- Moar sex
- Make it R rated
- More space battles
- More violent gunfights ,a phaser blast should tear a humanoid(blood and guts) in two on maximum setting, not desintegrate him
- Violent hand to hand combat between the villain and Kirk or Spock at the end,and by violent i mean punches that make you cry for the actor,a scene where you feel the strugle between them to pummel the other guy's face in .
- More scenes on other planets,in giant cities .

Its not allot to ask is it Mr. Abrams ? :p

I'm echoing the thoughts of others-- do not rehash an old TOS storyline from a TV episode or movie. Give the new cast an original and new storyline.

1) Engine room - it's not the 21st century Shotz brewery (God, I love saying that.)
2) No rehash of previous episodes...so no Khan...puhlease. Make it new fresh and exciting...puhlease!
3) I really want to see an Admiral Pike story...Greenwood was awesome and deserves more than the cameo...and DON'T kill him.
4) Tholians, Andorians, The Orion Syndicate, The Gorn and of course Klingons...
5) Get rid of the little lamps on the consoles.
6) Just a bit more lens flare
7) Naked Orion girls....

- No more cliff-hanging or Kirk-bashing (at least not multiple times in the same film).

- Much more redshirt death

- More of Gaila

- No more gratutious crappy CGI monsters

1. Engineering is cool, leave it alone. This is a matter of a bunch of people who expect Voyager-esque clean, central warp core, tiny engine rooms and they need to get over it.

2. Every single line of Scotty's should not be a joke, and his jar jar like sidekick should die in a transporter accident.

3. Please, a brand new adventure in this brand new universe. We are free from the shackles of continuity - LET'S NOT WASTE THIS OPPORTUNITY. The writers have done the impossible, brilliantly - given us a prequel where we don't know the outcome. No other franchise has ever had this without a complete do over. WE ARE LUCKY. Are we really going to blow it by re-doing Khan?

1. I am sorry but engineering sucked. I expect "Yes I said it dammit!" more TOSesque engineering. Engineering looked more like a Nuclear Wessel engine room then a starships engine room.

2. Scotty needs to save the day with a engineer's miracle.

3. Wholeheartedly agree something along the lines of Scotty's transwarp experiment sends the Enterprise to another galaxy and are attacked by another race who are a xenophobic race.

Re: The S.H.I.T. List

NO to Shatner (get over it guys). No to Nimoy as well. He passed the torch well in this film, there's no need for him to be the sequel.

I liked the lens flares

Can you explain what the lens flares are all about...every time I ask this question the thread gets buried and I never see the reply! What is the reason for it...?

i read an interview where Abrams said he thought the lens flares would give more dimension to the ship for the viewing audience, and that once the movie was done he realized he overdid it. The were actually done on set, and not added in, so they could not be taken out. And he felt that he overdid the lens flares so much they were like another character on set. BTW, i thought it was very cool of the guy to openly admit he made a judgement error.

My thoughts for the future movie: slow the camera down. The frenetic back and forth (particularly in fight scenes) actually forced me to look away a few times.

No old cast. Please. The torch has been passed beautifully.

New aliens, new story. Please don't rehash a TOS story.

Have Uhura actually say, "Hailing frequencies open" which she did not say. She skirted around it but never said it. Yeah, i know, I'm obsessive.

And if Kirk gets into any fights (and if he IS kirk, we know he will), his shirt has to get ripped. Come on! Its what i lived for as a young girl and now as an old lady I wanna see it!

Re: The S.H.I.T. List

Realistically, what reason could be given for changing from the brewery location? I mean, like a total refit, or what...

i sorta came up with one.
there were supposed to be more bulkhead seperations within engineering but not all of them got put in.

also just say what we mostly saw last time was within the innards of engineering not the places we normally saw before.

so that gives them room to at least come up with main engineering control.

More Kelvin!!!!!!

;)

but in all seriousness, I would love to see more Federation starships as well as...

* No more time-travel - for the time being... not unless it's three or four movies in, and you decide to bring back Nero, after he and the Narada had a can o' red matter opened up on their a**es... it could work, but it would have to be done real well as a plot direction.

* More speed!!!!

:bolian:

pookha, I saw earlier where you said all the bulkheads were not in yet due to rushed departure, yes? I liked that one.

Fun topic! Lots of interesting comments.

I want a good well written script. I want Abrams to direct. I want plenty of charactor moments and interactions in the next movie.

I would like to see a healthy Pike in the next movie, and a little father and dymanic between Kirk and Pike would be nice.

A brief part for Spock Prime only if they make it organic to Spock's personal journey. The torch has been passed. I want to see Spock finding a good balance between emotion and logic. And I want Uhura to be a part of that balance. This Spock is going to have a very different relationship with Sarek and some of that would be nice to see too.

I didn't have a problem with the bridge or engineering. YMMV applies and and obviously it does.

NO NO NO to Shattner. You wouldn't get Kirk. You'd get Denny Crane.

I want something original driving the main story. No episode or movie retreads. I don't see how they could do Khan. The Wrath of Khan only works because Khan has a history with Kirk. Space Seed has been butterflied, and the Botany Bay would certainly be part of Spock's very highly classified briefing for Star Fleet and the Federation.

The Borg and the Dominian would be on Spock's little list too. I don't see how they could do justice to either in two hours without making them just the Generic Bad Guy so they might use a new Generic Bad Guy if they go in that direction.

Most writers or producers who say, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if .." should be drowned before they finish the sentence.

Abrams & Orci & Kurtzman, them I'd listen to before I reach for the fire hose.

There is one thing that is seriously missing, and must be remedied in the next film without fail.

WHERE ARE THE REDSHIRTS?

I think we all deserve to see some red shirts die.

You could even do a little hit-counter as a cookie in the dvd release.

The Chief Engineer that was killed on Vulcan was a red shirt.

Controversial.

None of the Original Original cast: If we must tie it in to existing continuity, have T'pol messing about somewhere.

Old school sci-fi: Really throwback to the sci-fi shows of the 50s/60s. Give us robots, scantily-clad space women, mental planets and cultures.

No reference of alternate reality: The worst thing they could do is remind people that what they're watching isn't the 'real' Trek.

No villain: Have them come across a natural phenomenom that's threatening the galaxy/universe/whatever. Have them enter this phenomenom for extra LULZ and adventure. They're explorers, dammit.

Re: The S.H.I.T. List

I liked the concept for Engineering, but I thought they made a mistake doing the huge wide shot of Kirk and Scotty running through it. At first, it didn't bug me because finally the engine room looked HUGE, but after reapeated viewings it's just too big and too obvious what it really is -- a brewary.

I thought it looked better in tighter shots, conveying a faciity like a USN ship that's filled with equipment and all sorts of machinary.
