Rather an overprotective mother, than a disengaged father like Kyle Riker.
and move out permanently at 16
Perhaps she felt she had to compensate for a lot of things; seeing as she didn't find a new husband.Yes I think she might have been slightly over the top but I think in some ways she felt she had to compensate for the fact that Wesley only had one parent and felt like she had to be both mother and father to him.
Those who think her reactions are typical of other mother does that extend to freaking out over a girl showing interest in a [/i]18 year-old boy[/i]!!!

One of the many things parents freak out over, along with driving lessons, driving as a newly licensed driver, School Certificiate and Higher School Certificate assessment tasks getting completed and handed in on time, kids getting enough sleep, studying enough, not overdoing it, going to the pub/club with their mates (who's the DD?) etc.......
Parents worry about these types of things, (even once their kids are grown up). You may not be aware of it, but it's always there. No matter how old you children are, they will aways be your "babies".
Of course you worry a bit. But not too much; you have faith in your children and their sense of responsibility and intuition.
Never thought of Beverly as overprotective. Concerned yes that her teenage son wasn't doing things that a teenager does. And you forgot the ep "Justice" where Bev freaks out because they were going to put her annoying son to death.

Especially in the Netherlands.Of course you worry a bit. But not too much; you have faith in your children and their sense of responsibility and intuition.
Even in the Netherworld....ooops....Netherlands?
