Any news about The War Games DVD?

Unless there's a version with animations of episodes 2&3, I wouldn't be surprised to find Ice Warriors eventually released in a double pack with a re-release of Tomb (as Tomb wasn't VidFired when released).

Tomb is coming out in a remastered boxset, along with Spearhead from Space, Robots of Death, Talons of Weng-Chiang and Caves of Androzani. A remastered Vengeance on Varos is coming out as part of a seven story final set, with one from each Doctor.

The source is reliable.

That second link doesn't make much sense, unless they're going into production line with releases. By my count, there are still 50 complete stories that have not been released, plus two "incomplete" stories (Mind of Evil from the 3rd and Shada from the 4th). These are not counting the "lost" stories from the first two Doctors.

The second link specifically says they're doing that box set to celebrate 2 entertain's completion of the series being released on dvd.

What are they doing? In order to meet that, they're going to have to release an average of three stories on dvd every month starting right now. I just don't see that happening.

What with triple packs, etc, we're looking at close on 20 stories released in 2009 (making a few guesses about the Oct/Nov/Dec releases from suff already mentioned), so if that rate were kept up in 2010/11, then a final pack of seven as the Christmas 2011 release might be about right (just)...

Mind of Evil is complete, btw: it's just in black and white.

Edit: After a quick bit of back of the envelope addition: after September's releases, there'll be 46 complete unreleased stories left (plus Reign of Terror, Ice Warriors, Tenth Planet and Shada).
Assume one release in October and November, and then the Dalek War pair in December (as is rumoured) and you're down to 44.
Take out six new release stories in 'The End' and that's 38... which is do-able in two years if there's enough double or treble packs, or months with two releases, like April and September this year.

I thought they'd already confirmed there would be no Classic Who R2 DVD releases in October in November, to make way for Torchwood and SJA. I think Dalek War is the only 2009 R2 release that doesn't have a specific release date announced yet.

I hadn't heard that, but you might be right. I was assuming there'd be something in Oct/Nov, particularly in the absence of a new season box set.
On the rumour mill Dalek War seems to be set for the 'first day after Christmas slot' in late December.

On the Tomb DVD there is a Easter egg that's a small clip of Tomb that was Vidfired as a demonstration of the process.

What do you mean? There's no date specified on that listing, unless I'm being really thick. They are holding back certain stories for a final box set when everything else is released. It's the remastered set that is due late next year.

There's also a Myths and Legends set in the works, with three unconnected stories, so clearly boxsets will continue after the obvious candidates have been expired (Black Guardian, Kinda/Snakedance, Peladon for example).

It shows fourth quarter 2010.

^The "Remastered" set shows fourth quarter 2010. But the "The End" set, which is the one that would be the last DVD release, doesn't have a date anywhere, and is presumably still at least a few years off.

That's right. The remastered Remembrance is released in July, so there's no need to think the boxset will signal the completion of the range.
