Tuesday (6/16) Box Office - Trek #7 - $0.7 million

Well I've never followed ANY movie's box office in such detail as I've watched ST and while I haven't participated, I do find the daily updates fascinating. :techman:

The predictions, hopes, and estimates are all fun to watch, as are the occasional minor disagreements... please continue with the 'petty bickering'

petty bickering, thy name is TREKBBS.

face it, we're all here to fight and make up. 'tis a beautiful thing.

I find these daily box office threads to be helpful... and kind of fun, actually. I say stick with that for another couple weeks or so. As was suggested upthread, maybe start with a weekly thread when Transformers: ROTF opens, or until Star Trek drops out of the domestic box office Top 10.

Just checked the local theater here to see whether Trek's number of showings will decrease--nope: still 5 a day, every day, but unknown past Tr2.

So, ye ol' IMAX doesn't get it by then, I'll go once more to make it 9.

Oh, and the number of showings there is equal to NatM; A&D has one showing, T4 NONE.

Count me in as another vote for the daily threads. At least for the time being. Until the daily amounts count too little to the total to matter. I.e. if it proves impossible to make $250.

Star Trek continues to be on IMAX in LA area until Monday, on Tuesday it will be replaced with an advance screening of Transformers. I may go see it a second time before it loses the IMAX theater.

Transformers got a lukewarm review from The Hollywood Reporter. It seems more of the same and a long movie (147 minutes). I'll pass on it and wait until it shows up on HBO.

You and 2 other people... the thing will do massive bank...

I have a feeling my IMAX will get Star Trek starting the day Tr2 comes out based on what you're saying; it shows 2nd run movies, so...

Yeah, I didn't see the first Transformers in theaters and it didn't seem to affect its boxoffice results. They are predicting $160-$175 million for the first 5 days of this one.

Yeah, my local megaplex, which has an IMAX screen, is doing the same thing: Trek on the IMAX until Monday (but just one later showing each night, the rest of the day it's NATM 2), then on Tuesday at 12:01 am there's an advanced showing of Transformers. Not including the IMAX, there's 5 showings of ST per day, and on the weekend there'll be 6 (plus an additional IMAX showing). I think that's fairly impressive considering it's been out for over a month. Only NATM 2 and The Hangover (and The Taking of Pelham 123, as of tomorrow) have more showings. A & D and Terminator, by contrast, have 4 each.

As for Transformers: ROTF -- eh, I wasn't too impressed with the first one, so I'm not really in any hurry to see the sequel. Maybe when it comes to my local cheapie theatre I'll check it out... if I've got nothing better to do. But yeah, I'm sure it'll be huge.

It's only four minutes longer than the first one, but just seeing 147 minutes feels long.

And it looks like pretty much all IMAX showings of Trek will end on Monday.

Wait--didn't I read that they put more footage in the IMAX version? So that would be 147 plus minutes...

On Fandango, both are listed as 150 minutes, so I'm not sure which one is for which. The IMAX version IS supposed to have extended fight scenes.
