NuEnterprise Speed, and other things I've noticed...

yes and they also had a radiation leak inside engineering.
what chekov ment was if scotty could repair the ship and enable to reach warp 4 with all the damage they took both from hitting the debris from ships and the attack on the armada.
4.5 shows that he gave them the 4.0 and better/

Chekov questioned whether Scotty could get the to warp 4 DURING the scene where the viewscreen speed indicator showed Warp 4.something.

It was a goof.

Oh well, not like we've never seen one of those. Just fill in the blank with "If My. Scott can get us to [arbitrary warp factor needed to catch up to the Narada]..."

To the OP, not only does McCoy speak to Chapel, but she answers him in the affirmative. It actually kind of sounded like Majel; but I don't know if it was her. She did do some voice work for the movie.

Regarding the tattoos, if Romulans use tattoos to express grief or honor loved ones in general, then the ones seen on the hologram of Nero's wife could be for a deceased grandparent or parent.

Regarding the warp cores, I'm always under the impression that some of the objects seen careening away from the ship are some kind of charges. Scotty says they will have to detonate the cores, and what leaves the ship looks something like depth charges to me, in addition to the cores.

No they're all warp cores. You can see them get ejected from the ship one by one.

And to Silversmok3 who said there were 5 warp cores... there were in fact more than 5, watch it again.

No the shots were not shown out of sequence ffs, you're overthinking things!
Had to be. A starship CAN NOT be at warp 0.8 and still have the Earth and the spacedock that close behind it. The shots were shown out of sequence for dramatic effect. I'm not over-thinking, you're under-thinking.

Oh puhlease FFS. You're thinking like a Trek geek.

This is new JJTrek, he really doesn't give a fuck about showing scenes out of sequence to make it more scientifically believable. Yes it might not make complete sense in OldTrek terms, but if you asked JJ or the scriptwriters:

"did you put that warp scene out of sequence", they would laugh at you. And I might join them.

Shown out of sequence??? :lol::lol::lol:

And if you NEED a geeky/Trekky answer to make yourself feel better... maybe Warp 0.something in the NuTrek universe means nothing until it hits warp 1, and that's when the ship zooms off into warp. Like it's building towards lift off.

I doubt Abrams was thinking scientifically, but dramatically. Sequencing the scene in that way allowed him to show both interior and exterior shots of the ship jumping to warp.

He's a Star Wars man, in much the same way that the Millenium Falcon will watch the stars stretch before jumping into hyperspace... the Enterprise crew watched the stars stretch before jumping into warp.

No altered sequences. It was just a cool effect.

eight warp core's right... however I dont think it was eight that were ejected... which would explain why they had some power to excape that blast.

Sure it was. I just don't think that having Sulu push the throttle forward and seeing the ship accelerate from inside and then cutting to an external shot and backing up a couple seconds to show the ship shooting away is as incomprehensible as you're making it out to be.
