Disney characters with nipples

I remember a while back people were freaking out because somebody drew nipples on a Disney character for the first time. Hercules? Mulan? I don't remember, but it was one of the more recent 2-D animated movies.

Now, here I am, watching "The Little Mermaid" (what, a man can't Netflix "The Little Mermaid" and watch it by himself? :p ), and King Tritan very clearly has nipples.

So...what's the deal here?

Ah, I believe they were referring to female nipples.

I'm pretty sure other male characters have had nipples before. I didn't think there's anything surprising about that.

Although maybe specific characters should have had them, but didn't. I feel weird for even asking this question, but did Aladdin have nipples?

I want to say no, but I have no idea. I just remember people having a cow when somebody in one of the newer films had nipples.

Netflix Instant Watch has "The Little Mermaid!?" I am so there!

<zips on over to Netflix, runs back and powers up his Roku box>

Done. :D

I know. It's been such a long time since I've watched these classic Disney movies. I'm trying to catch myself back up (and cheer myself up because I am having just the shittiest day).

^ Aw, it's not there, though. I wish they had it on Instant Watch.
I love Disney movies though, well classic ones anyway. Hey, I still tear up at Beauty and the Beast, Fox and the Hound and The Lion King.

By the way, you're way too damn fast.
I went over to add it to the queue only to find it gone so I came back to change the post and you'd already been there.

BTW, apparently Fantasia has a female nipple shot as well.

OK, I got to get out of this topic before my childhood is ruined.

It's like I exist in multiple universes. In NetflixPrime, The Little Mermaid is there. In the Alternate Netflix Verse, The Little Mermaid was destroyed by Nero's blackhole weapon.

There could not have been more perfect timing when it comes to your starting this thread. Seriously -- this is cosmic. Let me explain:

I live in a great neighborhood in Brooklyn -- East Williamsburg/Bushwick. The neighborhood is full of lower-middle class Dominican and Puerto Rican families, starving artists, and hipsters who don't have trust funds. As such, the neighborhood is also full of murals -- some modern, some classic, some astounding, some mediocre. So, when my landlord informed us he'd be painting a mural on the cement wall on the side of our building, in hopes of deterring some of the graffiti that kept turning up, I thought, "Cool, should be fun."

Little did I know. Little did I know.

We're not a daycare, no one in the three family building has kids -- yet my landlord decided to go for a Little Mermaid theme. The Little Mermaid I can deal with. But her nipples? That's right. Her nipples:

She seems to be suffering from a serious case of the mumps, and in her fevered state she forgot to pull her clamshells up:

And yes, Sebastian is pinching her ass.

That's the best kind of awful.

I also just want to point out that I love that there are overweight mermaids in this movie.

Speaking of odd funniness in Disney films...

I find it unintentionally (?) hilarious that Tink keeps showing her little yellow undies (the drawer) in one scene and Peter spanks her when he's knocking pixie dust onto the Darlings. Of course, every female in the film is in love with Peter, trying to kill each other for him or acting jealous and he's oblivious.

As for The Little Mermaid... There was a big hullabaloo over some early cover art where the artist drew a rather phallic spire on the palace. The word "SFX" was written in The Lion King, but people went nuts thinking it was "SEX". The Rescuers actually has a nude woman poster inside a window.

The Little Mermaid has some rather revealing shots during Ariel's transformation. It's cartoon nudity! And not all the frames are completely obscured and vague.

As for adult material in Disney... look no further than Pinocchio. Ask yourself: what happened to all the other little boys that turned into donkeys? They didn't come home and were sent off to slavishly work in the mines. In the original story, the donkey boys were sold to make leather drums! Also... Lampwick says "jackass", which is probably a lot funnier today than when "ass" was more commonly used for the animal. One of Gepetto's clocks has a woman spanking a child. Lampwick's transformation is one of the creepiest movie scenes, period.
