Sequel Rumors Spell Doom?

Everything we have heard thus far in realtion to the next film has no basis in reality.

I'm sure they have been kicking around some ideas in private as to what form the sequel will take. I'm equally sure that anything that has hit the next so far is nothing but fanboy's creating false rumors.

They'll do a fine job of the next film regardless of old characters as long as Abrams is directing. As long as its a good script and a good story im not bothered if they re use old characters.

Rumors about Khan showing up in STXII. Rumors about Jack Black playing Harry Mudd. Now, JJ himself has shot down the Black as Mudd rumor, but his friend Greg Grunberg has said that he would absolutely love to play Mudd, and would even don the big mustache and earring. But they have a whole new timeline/reality, so how about all new characters and stories. It's not supposed to be your fathers Star Trek so let's leave dad's episodes behind and move forward. If all they're going to do is rework TOS episodes in upcoming sequels this new movie franchise will die a quick death.

Oh geee....

Look, Occasio, i am giving JJ a long leash with this STAR TREK movie series. He has, in my opinion, earned it...

Boy, I hope they don't cast Damon as Kirk. That'll ruin Star Trek!!!!!

The current movie is still in first run, a new movie is at least two years off, and the writers haven't even had one meeting about XII...disregard everything you hear.

How about JJ having a thing for lens flares so he fills the movie with them? Or JJ and the production designer having a thing for red balls (Alias & MI:3) so they put one in STXI (red matter)? Kind of strange to put such weird personal touches all over a film, especially red matter. What's up with that?

All that matters is a good script, wit, fun and humor. And as long as editing, direction, and artwork are all ship-shape and considerations are made for the genre--wah-la---another great Trek movie.

This is exactly it. As long as those things are in place the particulars are frosting on a cake. Also much like NuBSG which took elements of the orginal and re-spun them see Cain its almost incumbent on this alternate universe to do the same as that's half the fun.

Hell I'd like to Khan and Kirk as allies in this reality and Spock's line from the end of Space Seed made real with an active augment empire at work.

What matters is if it gels on screen or not.

Oh why not. :rommie: It's not like the role requires an Al Pacino to pull it off.

I want new characters, old characters, cats and dogs living together, MASS HYSTERIA!!!!!

Regardless, I don't want to see Harry Mudd again. I want something new! Trek has been living in the past for too long, it's time to move ahead in this new timeline/reality with fresh stories and characters.
