indranee, yeah, I went to this Star Trek movie, which was explosively fun! I'd like to put it around hereabouts that people might want to see it.

But it was nothing that couldn't have been improved by viewing it with a person named indranee.

I wish we could ALL view it together. wouldn't that be something?! all of us here in this thread and oh, the Urbanites thread as well... we'd take up a whole row and make such lusty ruckus.... we'd promptly get thrown out

Apologies for the double post, but I just got a new post on zqfans.

Nowadays, the theater probably wouldn't mind, since there's more room. But that does sound like critical mass.

Happy to see Captain Fine has taken the lead with 53.85% of the vote :)
I just got home from seeing Captain Fine's movie for the 14th time. And he was. He was.

Fourteen? Wowzers. I've seen it five (well, maybe six, but that last time didn't really count). I have to admit, one of the times I was so exhausted I took a nice little nap during the skydiving/drill scene. Isn't that sad?

Oh, and happy day! I met a Trekkie at work (I'm new). She's one of my favorite people there anyway, but then we got talking about the movie and she pulled out her full scifi trivia credentials. And I have my non-Trek scifi loves, which she understood. She said there was some sort of yearly convention near here. (I live in Iowa.) Is this true?

really...if more women think spock is better than that means they really are a mystery

I don't think Spock is better, but I do understand why he would appeal to other women:

he's got emotions under the surface that he doesn't easily show, so he's got that mystery to him
when you break through his calm exterior, he can be rather fiery
he loves his mama fiercely
he's intelligent and capable
he was a cute kid who, again, loves his mama
he beat up kirk because, again, he loves his mama
he has a cool girlfriend, who he seems to appreciate
the actor is a good looking man, under all the makeup

I'm gearing up for my seventh ;)

miniglik
you fell asleep?!?! you bad girl you

as to Spock... he can also pinch you senseless... wowza!! :p

LOL. I can't even explain how horrible my schedule is right now. I'm averaging four hours of sleep a night. My obsession is the only reason I've seen the movie as much as I have, because I really don't have time for it. The time I fell asleep I debated between a nap and going to see it. (It was Saturday, and I was going to go into work afterward.) I settled on the movie, because I was afraid if I napped I would crash for the day. Turns out I had the best of both worlds. It was a very refreshing nap. ;))

miniglik, I think the town of Riverside has some kind of yearly celebration of Kirk's birthplace. That would be TOS Kirk. If I were you, I'd buy up some property around there. It looks like they're going to be building in the future.

I always use the monster-chase scene for an intermission. I leave just as Quinto Spock is jettisoning Kirk out the airlock, and I'm always back to see Nimoy Spock waving the torch and saving him. I'd be curious at just what minute in the movie that scene takes place.

oh, that's a great idea! I'm gonna try that. that way, I can have some soda. I never have soda any more. I get it only when I go to a movie...

It IS the perfect intermission spot. Not that you don't run real cute, Pine.

If I had chosen better, I would surely have napped there. (This last time I went to see it I took a friend who is 7 months pregnant with twins. I had a plan, if she had to get up to pee (as is inevitable in that situation) to direct her to the ready made intermission. However, she made it long enough to run off right as the credits rolled.)

*cough* Don't ask how I know this *cough* But I think my favorite part of the whole movie is starting at the 17 minute mark when Spock goes into the Vulcan counsel, through the bar scene, through the K. Maru scene. All good stuff. That's the only exact time in the movie that I know of.

hmm... my favorite part is the Kirk/Spock fight :p

That is a close, close second. I kind of love it.

The intro, of course, is also good. And I kinda love Prime Spock and Kirk in the cave.

And, er, I always got a weee case of the giggles when Bones and Spock talk about their stallion.

Well, I would just like to say that, even though, yes, I'm old enough to be Chris's mother, I've never had any kids; so technically, technically, I'm still a virgin, and it's ok to have a big infatuation over him.

indranee, if the concession stand isn't too busy, it should be enough time.

yeah, I get the feeling though that Quinto almost blew it. it seemed like one of those "many takes" kinda deals.

oh, it's okay. if men can marry women less than half their age, women can snatch as many cradles as they want :p
