I know this is extremely off topic... but I didn't see another thread on here about it, and I just had to put one up. Who has seen this? What did you think?

I saw it last night and my jaw STILL hurts from laughing. It's getting good reviews (currently 75% on RottenTomatoes LINK) and in my opinion, is as good (if not better) than anything Todd Phillips has done in the past. The supporting cast was incredible (Heather Graham looks incredible for turning 40 next year) and if you didn't almost cry from laughing during the credits there is something seriously wrong with you.

Anyway, what did you think? This is probably the comedy of the summer (until The Goods comes out, that is) and I'd love to gauge what everyone else thinks.

On a Trek side-note, if you've seen it, did anyone else think a Trek quote was coming when they were toasting the shots on the roof? I thought for sure Alan was going to drop one... no dice tough :-(

Hilarious. The funniest movie I've seen this year--wonderfully raunchy and bizarre and I think I laughed at Land of the Lost so much when I saw it immediately after this movie because The Hangover was still making me laugh.

:techman:

1. How is this "extremely off topic" for General TV & Media?
2. I thought it was very funny. I loved the "Wolfpack" scene when they're on the roof. I really was in tears.

I saw mostly TV episodes in here... sorry! Still kinda new ;-)

And the whole roof scene was incredible... when he was reading that note... oh my god, I was tearing up.

Plus I've been calling all my friends Rehtards all day... so great.

Stupid, childish, juvenile, offensive .... yet GREAT
It was very funny, the cast was great, and even the clichés were executed perfectly

So what do you guys think of Zach Galifianakis? I thought he was perfect for the Alan role. He was sort of a perfect combination of a very stupid person and an absolute genius... I have a feeling he's going to be the next Seth Rogan... eventhough Seth Rogan is still extremely persistent in movies, I think this guy is going to be up there. It looks he has a couple movies coming (including The Hangover 2) and a TV series called "Bored to Death" with himself, Jason Schwartzman and TED DANSON (?!?!?!?!)... That should be interesting. As it looks like it's been picked up by HBO...

I was pretty damn pleased.

Always good to have a summer comedy that actually has jokes beyond what made it into the trailer.

This is the film with Heather Graham, right? Is she nude because that means it gets 4 stars right there?

Not nude, but scantily clad at times.
still hot

There is actually very little nudity in the film itself ... of course the credits ...

She's in the movie for MAYBE 5 minutes, and no, she doesn't get nude that I saw.

I'd say more like 10 minutes, and she does flash a boob, but its not at all what I'd call sexy.

Fun movie though!

There is a definite Heather Graham boob in this movie. It nicely offsets the random full front male nudity... you'd think the latter would be a little off-putting... but you'll be laughing too hard to even let it register.

Oh, it registered... and I stopped laughing and pulled a, "Gewww!"" and then promptly started laughing again. LOL!

The Hangover

Rated R: For nudity, language, sexual content, some drug use.

My grade: A

"Dude, where's my bachelor?"

Every Summer movie season has to have "the comedy" mixed in with all of the super-hero movies, action flicks and other nonsense. There's always "the comedy." Last year it was "Tropic Thunder" this year it's clearly "The Hangover" which stars a bunch of -mostly- unknowns. (There's a few The Daily Show alumnus in it, however.) This movie is made of constant laughter.

It follows three friends as they try and piece together the events of their fourth friend's bachelor party night in order to track them down, unfortunately they're working against their own memory which is being shackled by a combination of alcohol abuse and being slipped roofies. The movie is set in Las Vegas.

Their three actors whom we follow the most to great jobs with their parts. We have the "Christian Slater in "Very Bad Things" character who's the smart, sexy, and "leader" of the group pushing the other characters from one insane event to the next, we've the anal-retentive Daniel Stern in BOTH "Very Bad Things" and "City Slickers" character -a Dentist with a domineering girlfriend (he has his own side arc), and then we have the comic-relief in the bachelor's soon-to-be idiot brother-in-law who provides a great many of the biggest laughs and even a great plot-point for his moment to shine (I guess he's Leland Orser from Very Bad Things.)

I keep mentioning VBT because that's mostly what this movie reminded me of, but while VBT was a "dark comedy" with unlikeable characters and sick and twisted, this movie is just a fun "adult party" comedy. It's "American Pie for adults", essentially. The movie even gives us a treat over the end credits as we see photos from a digital camera that were taken over the course of the night.

The movie also has a beautiful transition between the start of the night -as the four toast on the roof of their Las Vegas Strip hotel- and the start of the morning after as they wake up in their trashed hotel room with a tiger residing in the bathroom -leading to a great extended cameo appearance and there's even substantial set-up for a sequel.

This movie is well-worth seeing and will certainly find a home in my DVD collection.

:)

I liked it a lot. The movie was hilarious and the quiter moments when the characters existed in reality and not in fantasy stuff like when they were simply going to where their bachelor party would be or toasting the night of the party, reminded me a lot of a couple of real bachelor parties I've been to. They caught the spirit of bachelor parties very well.

Grade A.

I just saw this last Thursday--my roommate and I both laughed our asses off. It was really, really funny. I think the cast was excellent, and it was a great premise for a comedy. And yes, those end credits totally had me cracking up!

It was a real breakout role for Ed Helms, too. I've always liked him on The Office and was so excited to see him in a movie!

Shallow note: damn, Bradley Cooper's fiiiine. :D
