Old-School "Face in Space" Titles Returning!

The show did it for 28 years without any problem, don't see the problem now.

The original series did it without a problem because it was a low-budget children's show with relatively poor writing. The new series deserves better.

I could live with 'action shots' as 'shadows' in the wall of the 'vortex tunnel' (my god, I'm about to use up the EU ' stockpile). Sort of subliminal hints of the events that are happening in the history to the other side of the vortex, in real life...

Smith's face on the other hand, will be brilliant as far as I'm concerned. The title sequence needs a revamp, and the eerie face has always been one of the first things I associate with Doctor Who. Bring it back Mr Moff.
Now, a floating head over a sci-fi background, on the other hand, would be incredibly cheap and tacky!

yeah im not sure "The Classic series did it" is the best argument.

The Classic series thought this was a good idea

are you so quick to defend it?

Exactly.

I could use this image of the Kandyman to win almost any "but the Classic series did it" argument, but lets not be childish, if Moff can prove to me that he can make it look good, then he is free to do so, however I dont think it can be made to look good, so im against it.

That said I would not mind a "the story so far" title sequence, you know in the Spiderman movies, the title sequence has images of what has happened in previous movies, something like that might work for Tennants final episode, made up of stills from the new series.

Oh, I'm sorry, were you trying to make a point?

By the way, Sci, maybe you should keep your bullshit original series opinions to yourself, considering you won't even bring yourself to watch it. There isn't a single thing the old series and the new do better than each other because, quite frankly, the new series is just as cheesy in context of today's entertainment as the original was in its time. How exactly is the new series not geared to children, exactly?

and what may I ask is so bad about the Adipose?

and I never said that the new series never made a mistake, of course it does, all shows do, and it will continue to, but that is no reason to relive the mistakes of the classic series.

as for the Siltheen that are not totally without merit, they are certainly better than "the Kandyman"

but seriously what is so bad about the Adipose

- The Adipose are aliens made of fat. Again: aliens made only of fat, that are "widdle cuddwy cutsy wutsy". That's somehow worse than candy?

- The Slitheen: Bad CGI + Rubber suits for aliens that stand around and fart. Wow, fucking Hamlet in comparison.

Well the Kandyman didn't fart for one thing. :guffaw:

the Kandyman was a robot, so no of course it didnt fart, but the Sitlheen were not made of giant Liquorice Allsorts.

there is to be no slagging off the Adipose, well at least not when I am here, they ARE brilliant, one of the top 5 aliens of the new series.

as the Siltheen, they did not fart when they were in the "rubber suits" only when they were in the human skin, and I actually like the design of the "rubber suits" far more than I like the design of the giant Liquorice Allsorts.

I would however like it noted that I said that the Siltheen were "not totally without merit", not that they are Hamlet.

It doesn't matter. They're aliens that go into humans suits and, oops, they fart! Oh that is so un-childish and mature!

Well he had a soft center and seeing as how he had a human skeleton I can't quite call hjim a robot.

and I can not argue with that, the problem is whilst those things may have been ok once, the Siltheen were over used, which made that seem far worse than it actually was.

I don't think it was ok even once. Not even the supposedly "childish" original series did Farrelly Brothers-like humor. It's embarrassing to show those two episodes two newcomers.

sorry if I made a mistake, I should know better than to trust wikipeida, which lists him as a robot.

It's no biggie, there's no real explaination for what the Kandyman really was.

oh I think it could have been ok once, of course if we had seen more of them than just that, it would have been more forgiveable, Boomtown was good for that.

which makes my point even more valid.

No it doesn't. It doesn't make a difference what he was? Naturally I bet you haven't watched the serial it's from so as it watch what context it was used in?
