Wednesday (6/3) Box Office - Star Trek #4 - $1.3 million - $213 millio

Re: Wednesday (6/3) Box Office - Star Trek #4 - $1.3 million - $213 mi

That is so cool! Thanks. I did my bit: trip #12 last night.
So you hate it then? I've seen three times, the most I've seen a movie in the theater since I was a kid. I was very surprised at how sturdily this film held up. Many of the things I thought were "holes" the first time in, were covered, I just missed them because this films zips by. So ...12 times ... at which showing were you able to recite the dialogue in its entirety?
Oops, sorry; missed this. I feel the same way; I notice that the story is covered well. I can't recite the dialog yet; but I recorded the soundtrack on my iPhone during one trip and made sound files for my iPod.

I listened to it once to make sure it was ok. The IMAX version was good and loud. I'm saving the audio for after the show leaves town. By November I should know the dialog pretty well. Maybe not word for word; but I should know what was said.

pookha and Optimus1, thank you! :)

Haven't seen Drag Me to Hell yet. That's on the list... As creative and funny as The Hangover might be, I think I'll wait for video.

we're seeing it this weekend. thinking of buying the tix for Trek and then going in to DmtH. :p

going to see it again....and again......and....

Re: Wednesday (6/3) Box Office - Star Trek #4 - $1.3 million - $213 mi

I went for trip #9 today. Last chance to see it in digital around here - they're moving it out of the digital theater to make room for The Hangover.

So, I have a question: when it starts to leave theaters, what's a sure way to find out where it's still playing that's close by?

Why are you rolling your eyes at Hangover. That looks good.

Re: Wednesday (6/3) Box Office - Star Trek #4 - $1.3 million - $213 mi

It looks like it could be good, but it's not exactly the kind of movie that gets the most benefit from digital projection. IMO, of course.

Re: Wednesday (6/3) Box Office - Star Trek #4 - $1.3 million - $213 mi

Honestly, I've seen little substantive difference between digital and regular projection, so that's one of the least important things for me when watching a movie.

Re: Wednesday (6/3) Box Office - Star Trek #4 - $1.3 million - $213 mi

I've seen it twice so far and I think it's going to keep more theaters than usual (up until Transformers at least) because of its great WOM and repeat viewings. I am hopeful it will get to $250 million.

On the digital vs. regular screen issue, I think it depends on the movie and I haven't seen ST on one yet, but it's definitely the type that would benefit. I remember seeing At World's End in digital and the ocean and island shots were amazingly clear and beautiful.

Possibly an uptick this weekend. Didn't I read somewhere that the IMAX showings are going to increase starting Friday?

I've seen it six times. If I can, I'll go again Saturday morning.

The most I've been to any other movie since it became possible to buy movies, is twice.

The most I've been to any other movie since I could actually buy it later to watch anytime I wanted, is twice.

It is being picked up by additional IMAX screens (at least in San Diego). Unfortunately, it's still only one showing a day, and its going to be in a fake IMAX screen.

No real IMAX screens for the return engagement?

I'm in agreement with the continued impact of WOM. This and next weekend should still yield respectable numbers; after that, cue amazing grace...

Well it's still playing at the real IMAX screen down here, but again, only midnight shows as well.

The upside is that they're showing it everyday, as opposed to the real IMAX only showing it on Friday and Saturday.

After a month in the theaters you can be guaranteed that there is a huge difference between digital and regular. Heck even after the 1st showing the regular version would have scratches, dirt and nicks on picture that the digital version will never have. Of course i agree with you that its not an important part of my decision when going to see a movie but there is a big difference between the two formats.

Ok. Back to the original topic. I have seen the movie in the theater 3 times and i plan on seeing it at least 3 or 4 more times before it hits the cheapie dollar theaters. I plan on seeing it as often as i can when it does go to dollar cinemas. I plan on breaking my record of 11 trips to the cinema to see Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

You do realize that is theft and copyright violation?

if the feds or mpaa get you then you could be in prison for a long time with dangerous inmates who can do BAD things to you from behind.

The recording of anything including the soundtrack is illegal in the cinema.

i urge you to delete it.This board takes a very dim view of copyright violation so I am surprised you have not been admonished.

Re: Wednesday (6/3) Box Office - Star Trek #4 - $1.3 million - $213 mi

I'd hate to see it that many times in the cinema, and end up getting bored of it. As fantastic as it is, seeing it 10+ times seems like the appeal would gradually lose something every time.

That was my thought as well. Besides the fact it sounds slightly obsessive.

Even now, contemplating my third visit(the partner said he wouldn't mind going again), I am kinda "Ummmm......I dunno......."
