I call shenanigans on this post too.

But, if it were real, maybe she was just creeped about the giant eyed lady?

Or have some common sense. I went with my current girlfriend and she was about to tear up, and she is the kind of girl that didn't know the difference between Star Trek, Battlestar and Star Wars up to that point. She thought they all were about some trouble in space and had the word STAR on them.

So... no, you don't need geeky interest.

I too call shenanigans. When I went to see it, there were girls laughing at the aliens that appeared, but much later on into the movie. For example, Scotty's rock faced alien buddy. At least 5 people commented on that scene, most of them saying a version of "What the fuck is that thing?"

Nobody laughed or cried at the first 10 mins though. Great opening. I wish we would have had at least 1 TNG movie with this kind of production value.

Oh my god do you know what you have DONE?
You, sir, have missed out on a sweet lay just because she has a different opinion on a movie.
    That is called epic failure.

If you really HAD to dump her, at least you could've waited until AFTER you had had sex.

Well to be fair to your date, I did keep fumbling the clasp on her bra from the next seat over. Damn thing was tricky!

But did you cry during Up? Nathan Fillion says if you don't then you're a robot.

Deserting a young lady while out on a date for the described reason and the way you did it, is a Very Self Centered Reaction and Just Plain Rude.

She may have issues, but apparently, so do you.

At the very least, you should have inquired as to why she was giggling and asked her to try to stop if it bothered you so much.

You are going to have Many-An-Occasion during your life in which people you are with will do things that you don't like or understand, if you treat them all like you treated this young lady you are indeed going to be a very sad and lonely person.

Stop thinking just about yourself all the time.

I'd have to agree with your assessment as well. I'd stuck through till the film was over, went to get a bite to eat and if things didn't get better-I just would have not seen her anymore but you've got to realize that trek or movies aren't important to all people.

    Well,

I think it's pretty damn hysterical this thread I created has garnered over 40 something posts.

This girl also complained about the movie theater volume being too loud during previews!? Excuse me too loud?!? When is a movie theater's audio ever too loud. That's the point. However, for the record it really was not loud at all.

This girl screamed and oozed NO FUN from the beginning and came off as naggy, insecure, and the icing on the cake was her reaction to the first 10 mins of Trek. It really wasn't a big deal walking out on her for me because it's not like she was gonna be my first kiss lol/lay or last kiss/lay. I just refuse to spend anymore time than need be with what I deem to be closed-minded, naggy women.

And I'm entirely sick of seeing a huge conglamerate of girls dissing Trek.

Lastly, the other reason leaving was no big deal was because I have already seen this movie 6 times in the theater lol :)

Not trying to sound like some sexist, insensitive prick, but I don't put up with narrow minded people, let alone naggy women.

Indeed. Much as I enjoyed the opening scenes, it did border on becoming Narm. The fans here who are forming an appalled lynch mob because someone laughed at the opening 10 minutes of Star Trek (!!!!! :scream: :scream: :scream: :scream:) worry me slightly more than someone who can't take melodrama seriously.

That would be the premiere screening of "Batman Returns" I went to.

I'm waiting for the girl to post here about how she went to the movies to see Star Trek, and her male date left after the first ten minutes and obviously wasn't prepared to give the new movie a chance because the USS Kelvin had just one nacelle. Or a registry number with a zero prefix. Or the captain left out the point in the stardate.

If this is a true story (and I have my doubts) - why are you taking her to the movie theatre on what seems to be a first date? :wtf:

If she is complaining during the trailers, you've brought her to the wrong place. Take the girl out for a drink - not a darkened theatre where you can't speak.

    :wtf:

I thought the opening was overwrought at the time also, it took me a few minutes to adjust to the pace and tone of the film.

I'd have kissed her right on the mouth.
That way I'd be making a move and hearing the movie dialogue.

You already saw XI six times? Jeepers, that's too many. Reminds me of a story I once heard about some kid in the late sixties meeting Alec Guiness and telling him that he'd literally seen Star Wars dozens of times. Guiness then asked him, as a favor, never to see it again, whereupon the kid burst into tears.

And heck yes, most movie previews are too loud. And yes, the six-minute labor-to-birth sequence did border on the ridiculous.

But we're all curious... how'd you meet this woman? And why'd you choose an action movie with - let's face it - two main females in rather small roles as your first date?

In your defense, that is weird date behavior... coulda been worse, though. Last blind-ish date I went on was with a Republican. :vulcan:

:rommie: ! Well played, sir! :techman:

Sorta undermines the image of a Trekkie who'll do/put up with anything for a date. :)
