Ghost in The Shell.

Something like that. Apparently regular sexual intercourse is painful for cyborgs since they have enhanced feeling or something, so most of em do the lesbian thing. You see traces of it in the SAC series with Makoto dating a nurse and being involved in an implied threesome at some point. In the manga there is a scene (or a whole chapter, I forget the details) where she has a boyfriend.

What that comes down to is manga version: Bisexual, movie version: un-known, SAC: lesbian

EDIT:

...And hot and bisexual again in the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex-verse.

I'd argue that shes at her hottest in SAC. Another area where it beats out the others ;)
Any idea where I might *ahem* find myself a copy of said MANGA?:shifty:

I came into Ghost in the Shell through Stand Alone Complex, and I was pretty underwhelmed when I finally saw the original film. Nothing wrong with it, but all the ground the original film trod was covered in more depth by the TV series.

Innocence, however, was a visual and audio work of beauty if nothing else.

While I agree that SAC covered the ideas in more depth, it's not really a fair comparision... between the two seasons and it's own movie, that's something like 15 hours? So it's got a bit of an advantage there ;)

Other then that I agree with the general sentiment, though I still really enjoy the original movie.
Oh, I know that, and I know it's not fair. But that doesn't stop me from being less interested whenever I watch the movie.

Well, it's out of print, so I'd say the internet somewhere.

You'd think they would try to eschew highly physical and pain-intensive jobs like security officer, then.:wtf:

Yeah you would think so haha. i always figured they did it that way to justify her lesbian antics

You can find them from time to time in stores like Borders and Barnes and Noble. I actually see it around pretty regularly (as well as its sequel Man Machine Interface and Ghost in the Shell 1.5). Just a warning though, it is very different from both the anime series and the anime movie. The tone is more light hearted and the art style is different from what you see today, though still very well done

Anybody read the books? There are three SAC novels, which are okay, but there's also After The Long Goodbye, a prequel novel to Innocence. I really liked that one.

And one aspect of the visual design that didn't work for me at all was the sexbots. It was silly to claim these androids were built for sex yet give them doll-like, anatomically incorrect designs.
I think that's one of the more realistic aspects of it. There in humanoid robot design, there is a very thin line between "sexy" and "Oh my god, kill it with fire". Things that are almost but not quite human produce a very visceral instinctive emotional reaction, a combination of extreme fear and loathing.

With human minds in perfectly human cyborg bodies, there is no problem. It would be difficult to tell the difference. But a limited AI in a body that perfectly simulates a human would attract a similar level of instinctual uneasiness and disgust as a body-snatcher or a stepford person would, because the AI wouldn't act like a natural human. For this reason, stylized designs that are obviously not human would be preferred for AIs, even sexbots. Few people would want to have sex with a thing that disgusts them and fills tehm with terror at an base instinctual level.

^Missing the point. They're allegedly built for sex, but they have no genitalia. How is that supposed to work?

I especially liked White Maze and The Lost Memory, the other SAC novel was okay too. I found After the Long Goodbye to be a little too dry for my tastes and a real chore to finish, though it was decent.

The only models you actually see naked were standard factory models which were not the sexroids. You never see a "sexroid" naked at all during the film or at least not clearly enough to check it's undercarriage. During the scene with the engineer lady she says that the models used in the crimes are specially modified Haloway models with sex organs. Meaning the normal models are not sexroids but just regular androids and don't have them. Esentially the regular model is just built to be a life sized doll for decoration or housework or something. Therefore if you saw an android and it had nothin' down there then it wasn't a sexroid. I just watched the relavant scenes on my DVD to double check this if that helps any.

Yeah, that was my only gripe with it. Ah, well at least she kicked ass while she was there.

I have the first and third S.A.C. novels, of which I've read the first; it was all right. I need to hunt down After the Long Goodbye, as I've heard many good things about it.
