Shep gates into Warehouse 13

Damn them. I wanted so badly to ignore Warehouse 13, too...

Stargate Atlantis star Joe Flanigan will appear in SCI FI Channel's upcoming Warehouse 13, as will former Battlestar Galactica cast members Tricia Helfer, Michael Hogan and Mark Sheppard, SCI FI announced.

Nice that they have so much faith in their writers' ability to draw an audience without stunt casting. Hey, where's Katee Sackhoff in her underoos? How about a knock-em-down between EJO and RDA?

Well, I'm not so sure it's "stunt casting." I think it's more like a case of a limited number of agents and the same pool of (Canadian) talent. Smallville lately has become a game of "Spot the Skiffy/BSG" actors. Tricia is also on Burn Notice on USA.

Some of them, sure. But non-Canadians include Flanigan, Naughton, Rees, Sergei and Morton.

So there's some casting of the cheap local help, plus stunt casting, plus casting of veteran actors who probably work cheap because they aren't young and pretty anymore (and that often works out well so that part I don't mind).

I'm hoping this will work as light entertainment. It is from Rockne S. O'bannon (Farscape; Alien Nation), is it not?

Yes. But Farscape was much more than light entertainment and its kind of disappointing to see OBannon just doing fluff. :(

What happened to the Farscape producers, anyway? Kemper, Manning - they just kind of melted away. We could use their wild-ass imagination and chaotic creativity, now that were up to our ears in cop shows masquerading as sci fi.

Crap. I was hoping he had retired. All these people are just guest spots so it shouldn't be too bad.

The only thing that would make this show better is if Artie's wife was played by Teryl Rothery. :D

Flanigan is too hot to retire. He has a good ten years left in him before he loses his looks sufficiently to not warrant a return to TV. ;)

Bacause they're not as good writers as you think they are, they did make a movie for Sci-Fi called Heatstroke and given the responses I'm glad I didn't see it.

So, one bad movie since Farscape is all the evidence you have to dismiss them as bad writers? Has the Sci-Fi Channel ever aired an original movie that was any good? These things are made for so little so quickly that it's hardly a surprise that this one didn't turn out.

They're behind some of the best episodes of Farscape, and Manning authored some of the best episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation before that. You can hardly dismiss them unless you actively ignore that body of work.

If what they put out on Farscape was their best maybe Farscape could've benefited from some new writers, since what they were doing wasn't enough to keep their viewers.

And yes Manning co-wrote some of the better eps. of TNG he also co-wrote one of the worst eps. of all of Star Trek, Shades Of Grey. In any event O'Bannon's new show shouldn't IMO be labeled a piece of fluff.

When did I say they were "good writers"? :rommie: They were all over the frakkin' map. One episode, pure genius. The next one they bring out the barf jokes. Farscape was the most wildly uneven sci fi show since TOS.

But what they definitely did have is an unusually strong willingness to take crazy creative risks. That's a rare quality on TV and many shows could stand a little more gutsiness.

Has the Sci-Fi Channel ever aired an original movie that was any good?
They don't dare because if they ever did, viewers would keel over dead from the shock. :rommie:
