Probably a stupid question...

You guys are over thinking this. The movie is called Star Trek. Anybody who can't tell the difference between William Shatner and Chris Pine has no business going out on their own.

*facepalm* You don't say?

When you ask someone "Have you seen Star Trek?" (in a few years, when the movie is no longer new) without any indicator, odds are you'll have to have an explanation since as said, it's the name of the original TV show and the entire franchise as a whole.

When that happens, you take advantage of the chance to convert your (presumably) ignorant friend to whichever version of Star Trek they have not seen.:bolian:

:devil:How about ST:POS?:p

Seriously, though, It's the only Star Trek movie that can be abbreviated ST. I would bet the next movie will be in the "Batman" vein and have a ST-less title. Something like "Battlestar Vulcania" or something...:rommie:

How about using the film's own promotional slogan: NFT (Not your Father's Trek)?

That was my suggestion above (third post of page 2), but NST, which can stand for "Not your father's Star Trek" or "nuStarTrek" or even "noncanon Star Trek," or whatever. But NFT is fine.

You guys are too funny :}

My vote goes to :INTILTSASTMNPBRB - Which translates to "I Never Thought I'd Live To See A Star Trek Movie Not Produced By Rick Berman."

But then you can't see I'm still bitter, can you? :}

09 is IX, confusing. In thirteen years most won't refer to this film by the year it was released.

XI makes more sense.

I'd caution against calling it Star Trek. That term is already loaded with baggage in the search engines. It's like looking for material from Enterprise - you end up getting more Kirk and Spock returns than Archer & co.

STXI works for me.

^Well, I can't speak for anybody else, but for some reason every time I see "STXI" in print, I don't think of Star Trek, I think of a laxative.

LOL, yeah. My favorite one sentence review of XI was "Spock goes back in time and wipes out Rick Berman."

I think I like STXI the best.
