Probably a stupid question...

...but I've been thinking about this for a couple of days now. Now that Star Trek 2009 is out, what 3 or 4 character abbreviation is going to be used when referring to it in posts and whatnot?

All series and movies have a 3 or 4 character abbreviation to make typing it a litter easier (i.e. The Motion Picture=TMP, The Next Generation=TNG). But what about this new Star Trek--ST09?

Or just Star Trek.

lol, no. It's already the name of a TV series and the entire franchise, calling it just that is silly. I second XI. I always call it Star Trek XI and it makes the most sense to me. Thus, they all have a title.

TMP
TWOK
TSFS
TVH
TFF
TUC
GEN
FC
INS
NEM
XI

that makes it sound like its insurrection.

What about

STJJ!
Insurrection is INS. I have never seen anyone refer to that movie as ST09 (or arabic numerals for any of the other movies either, so I don't think that is a valid point. They are abbreviated by their subtitles, but this movie does not have one.

TMP not ST01
TWOK not ST02, etc.

That wasn't the point. It just...sounds like it should be Insurrection with the 09 at the end. That's it.

You guys are over thinking this. The movie is called Star Trek. Anybody who can't tell the difference between William Shatner and Chris Pine has no business going out on their own.

*facepalm* You don't say?

When you ask someone "Have you seen Star Trek?" (in a few years, when the movie is no longer new) without any indicator, odds are you'll have to have an explanation since as said, it's the name of the original TV show and the entire franchise as a whole.
