Canon Excerpt That Explains The Enterprise

I love Dropbox.

You need to create a shared folder, methinks.

I very much like this idea, but, Tom, what's the source? 'Cause I know it ain't canon.

Okay, so it's not canon. :)

It also doesn't "explain" anything in any manner that matters. You could say "a wizard did it" and make as much sense as that "excerpt." :lol:

Would be kind of cool, as we see a woman get sucked out of the Kelvin when a bulkhead exploded.

Although... how would they know that information, lol. She phoned them? "Honey... bad news... yeah I'm in space."

I wish it was canon, I like the whole "he wanted it to be named Yorktown" and the whole Constitution was the 1700 prototype.

Sang resolved the structural issue and all the other issues and Starfleet decided to build the next Constitution (1701) on Earth where it could give the structure better gravity stress tests.

Starfleet was so impressed with this new ship that they made the first one (The Enterprise) the flagship and assigned veteran captain Chris Pike as it's commander. The Enterprise was so new in fact, that only few Starfleet personal were trained in her systems. Realizing this, Starfleet Academy started to train its students on these new systems in 2257, so by 2258 many of the older academy students could be a part of the Enterprise's crew.

According to Janice's logs it was always her intention for the first production Constitution to be named the Enterprise after the famous pre-Federation ship from the mid 22nd century. Starfleet did, respectfully, name the first production ship (1701), Enterprise even though Sang wanted the name to be The USS Yorktown.

Wow. I like that. This, somehow, should be intergated into furture fillms. Such a cool explanation on why the ship looks different (though i accepted the changes regardless), and why Acadamy cadets became the crew.

Unless it's on screen, it's not canon, but i'd like to see this mentioned in a future film :)

Official Canon(tm) or not - it's a very creative - and plausible - explanation for the changes! :techman:
 
Sure, government and industry put major engineering projects on hold for a decade because one of the designers dies all the time. These are, after all, pet personal projects of their designers with no economic, military or research investment and impetus behind them. :lol:

I don't know whether this is more or less ridiculous than Kirk being promoted from cadet to captain of the flagship overnight or not - probably a little less so, and at least this isn't canon.

Just a little jabbing humor, my friend. These are just fan message boards, sometimes people can be a little to serious around here. :)
 
I really liked that virtual sites description - the one that said the constitution class was designed by an engineer named "M. Jefferies".

If this is gonna be fanwank, might as well actually please the fans. :P
