Confused Matthew take on Star Trek

My views have been very similar to Confused Matthews other reviews (like the Lion King, and Star Trek Generations), but he has got it all wrong for STXI, mainly because he really is confused when it comes to the black holes, and it seems to me he is reading too far in to aspects of the movie without the need to do so. (like for instance the red matter, he seems to think it naturally takes people back in time, or blows planets up, which isn't the case at all).

Yep, Confused Matthews does have a point about Nero however this review is made same day as Star Trek open. I wouldn't be surprise he will make another better review later.

That guy has a flair for hyperbole. "Worst motivation in a villain I have ever seen in my life!!" Ridiculous. "Worst dialogue since Plan 9 From Outer Space" Also, he obviously paid no attention to any of the dialogue which makes it pretty clear that Nero does not go "I'll go back in time to destroy every planet in the Federation".... If you review, pay attention first!

I like his Generations review, but outside of that he has pretty shitty opinions. DS9 Season 7 wasn't great, but not Voyager bad. Hell, he said Nemesis was the -best- Trek film?

Thanks for the heads up. I always enjoy his reviews because he gets very worked up about them! Off to listen to this one now.

I haven't (and won't) watch the review, but I wanted to point out that Nero does indeed say that he's going to destroy every planet in the Federation. Just not that he meant to go back in time. :)

He said it was the best TNG film not best Trek.
Although I also disagree with him on "First Contact" being bad and "Nemesis" maybe not good but better than the other TNG's.
Also I think ENT is one of the best Trek shows and not the worst.

But IMO he is right with "Insurrection", "The Lion King", the "Generations" ending, the "Star Wars" Prequels and other stuff.

And it matters not so much to always agree with him but to be entertained and to get another perspective to these films + shows.

He'll probably post a better review once the DVD comes out, as that is what he usually bases his reviews off of.

His reviews are usually excellent however, and he takes the time to logically analyze and dissect the movie he is reviewing. Case in point: The Matrix reloaded and revolutions. EXCELLENT dissection of the plot from a position that is philosophically grounded.

Btw, if you check his statements before the movie he was cautiously optimistic about the new Star Trek movie and wanted the creators to do their own thing without being oppressed by the canon. That is a far cry from wanting to hate it from the beginning.
