Movie TV Commercial I just saw.

This commercial said something to the effect of "Go see the hottest movie of the Summer!"

You get three guesses on which movie this trailer was talking about.

No life lines.

Ready...

GO!

Wolverine

Really. What were they thinking when they made this commercial? Are they THAT diluted?

I guess saying, "If you see one movie this Summer see.... Star Trek. But if you see TWO movies see, well I guess go see Terminator: Salvation. But, BUT, if you see THREE movies... Shit, the new Transformers movies comes out this year too, right? Aww the heck of it, just rent this piece of shit." wouldn't be wise.

:guffaw:HAHAAHAHA!!! :guffaw:

Listen, there's good and bad advertising... but the ultimate aim is to get people out to see or buy product.

Although you'd have to be living under a rock to fall for that claim.

I know when I think of no-hold-barred-action-and-excitment-edge-of-your-seat-summer-blockbuster...I think of jazz hands.

Hugh Jackman is an accomplished stage dancer/performer.

Maybe they felt that people who watch "So You Think You Can Dance" -I'm not one of them, my mom was watching it as I was visiting them- would recognize him and want to go see him in a movie?

I'm well aware of Jackman's resume. But they're not the same demos. People who watch "So You Think You Can Dance" aren't going to be the ones to watch Wolverine and vice versa.

Well, I agree it's a thin connection. But one none-the-less.

It's possible people into dance may see him, know his talents as a dancer, and be curious to see him in an action movie.

It might be a thin enough connection to get two or three more butts in the seat this weekend. ;)

And they're expecting him to dance? I don't think so. I think it's more like random commercial placement than anything targeted.

Which would double the number of people seeing it this weekend.

It might be that people who watch a dance show might like more down-to-earth (somewhat) entertainment starring some handsome charming guy. Or it could just be reading something into nothing.

I feel sorry for that half-person going to see Wolverine this weekend. :(

What's becoming increasingly thin is the relevance of this thread to the movie this forum is provided as a place to discuss. Would you like me to move it to a more appropriate forum?

Knock yourself out.

:)

(For what it's worth I thought it was relevant here since the hottest movie of the Summer, so far, is Star Trek.)
