Rebooted Miranda Class...

I might move the hulls out some, and make them totally parallel to the nacelles....

No -- keep them where they are, they make a nice outward sweep with the engines. Parallel hulls would seem boxey (By which I mean "like a box", and not "small child on classic BSG").

I *love* the stuff you're doing -- and thank you for the Blender downloads on your site. Makes tinkering much easier!
Gotcha. I think I will leave them this way, then. I had them lined up to start with, but then decided to move them in some.

No, the Reliant should look like the Reliant, and shouldn't be more of a stretch than the NuEnterprise is from the Constitution class. Else people will look at it and go 'wha-huh-wha'? Trust me, you'll save yourself grief.

So your saying this ship should not use the name at all to avoid confusing the fans? Names don't bother me as long as I get some good starship p0rn.:bolian:

Right, and save the 'Miranda' design for later. Refitting the 'Kelvin Era' ships seems like a more logical move.

My recommendation for this cruiser? The USS Kaga, NCC-1645

I've been thinking...

The ship I have been brainstorming will be something different, but I have an idea for the Miranda, also. I'm going to go in the direction of my nebula idea... Maybe I'll have something to show for it soon. :)

This may help...

The two types of Kelvin-styled bridges:
saucers.png

First one, is the 3 nacelled one (minus the rollbar of course)
Second one is for the two nacelled, two engineering hull layout.

Wish i had seen these images before i had built my attempt at this ship. REALLY would have help me out some, lol. Oh well guess i just get to try again.

Great start MadMan, Can't wait to see more.:bolian:

Thanks, Joe. :)
(killer1021A is my little brother. :) )

OK, I don' know why I suck so much at this idea. I started going in the direction of a more "classic" version, and this is what came out...

These are still sketches, of course... I am just trying not to make a carbon copy of the original. those shuttlebays sticking out where the last idea I had...

Help? :)

Depending on the size of those shuttlebays, be prepared for a horde of "you've got Star Destroyer envy" posts. ;)

Personally, I like both versions you've done. The dual deflector setup could be designed for going into situations where there will likely be high amounts of debris (nebulas, deeper in towards the galactic corps, high speeds, etc). This version could work as jack of all trades: shuttle carrier, colonizer, fast transport, heavy frigate.

Yeah, the main reason I was insisting on the two shuttlebays is that the original Reliant has 2...

I am going to complete both of these configurations, though. It'll make for a really neat fleet shot. :)

This style is so versitle, you could make those top two vessels landing bays and have a carrier. So many possible outcomes by one simple vessel design.

I like what your doing with making a new Timeline version of a Miranda / Avenger class :techman:

I love it Madman your such a good designer maybe if submit to you a concept could you whip up a 3d orthographic of please PM me and I'll send you the image OK.

Smooth the rollbar curve (as it goes to the top) to match the aesthetic more, and I think we've got a winner here. :)

Oh yeah, I will. These are all just rough "Sketches" at the moment... I'm just trying to see how it all will fit together. :)

PERFECT! Now the only thing left is to put the JJPrise's sensors in front of the twin integrated secondary hulls. Bravo, Madman.
