Star Trek now in second place, closing in on first!

I'd love to see the film be number one for the year, but whatever... top 5 would be great!

Oh I don't think it will be number one for the year, but I would like to see it on top just for awhile, which I think is possible. Are that many people still seeing Monsters and Aliens it's almost done and it's a kids movie anyway. So those that were going to go see it have most likely already gone.

It'd be a real feat if it was number 1 this year, considering all the great movies hitting the screens this year

I was actually looking forward to T4, but the reviews have really made me worry. :(
It is either a film you love or hate (I have already seen it).

Despite this I don't honestly see Trek getting 1 or 2 this weekend. Terminator will still do well this weekend (midnight showings tonight are already sold out in my area and I live in a suburb of Pittsburgh) but there is also the family film Night at the Museum 2 coming out.

Trek should hit #1 for the year sometime next Wednesday or Thursday. How long it stays there is the fun part.

I know with a certainty approaching dread that all of my questions will be explained to me in long detailed messages from "Terminator" experts. They also will charge me with not seeing the movie before I reviewed it.

from Ebert's review

I wonder why he would think anything like this.:shifty:

Interestingly enough, it is now matching Iron Man after a similar period of release in daily takings (though $US30 million behind overall). Iron Man took $30 million in its third weekend - can Trek do the same?

I actually didn't know that Monsters Vs. Aliens was #1. I almost feel guilty now for taking my kids to see it last weekend. ;) Almost! I'm gonna go see Trek again and taking my ex to see it so I feel like I'm making up for my transgression. ;)

Some good commercials on television for Star Trek, emphasizing Memorial Day weekend... Good to see they are still advertising...

They're still advertising in Australia as well, despite a fairly mediocre performance. Three during the House finale.
