First 'V: Visitors' scenes released

The notion that the way to calm people down and reassure them is to appear as a gigantic face looking down from the sky is stupid beyond belief, as is the pretense that crowds of human beings would react to that kind of thing with spontaneous applause.

This looks as idiotic and childish as the original "V" became after the first couple of hours of the introductory miniseries - and that's saying a lot.

Whoever conceived and wrote this scene isn't fit to carry Moore's pencil case, sorry.

Oh, and the video compositing of Baccarin's face above the skyscrapers is bargain-basement.

Yet this show will stay on the air and get more press than NuBSG ever could.

Yeah, but what a face.

Don't bet money that you need on that.

Judging from this scene, it's crap. You're telling me this is your idea of promising? Seriously?
But if RDM wrote it, you'd be praising how truly great this scene was!

In all seriousness, its just one scene. There was another which fleshes out how manipulative Morena Baccarin's character can be.

Unsurprisingly, wrong again. For better or worse that's clearly your hobbyhorse, not mine.

Yeah, but what a face.

I didn't even recognize her.

I swear, Whedon's female Firefly actors get stuck doing the worst scifi schtick on the planet - "Stargate Atlantis," "Sarah Connor" and now this. The guys fare a little better - Fillon and Tudyk seem to be finding real work.

^ They really do. In the case of V, I expect it to be camp... so I doubt that I'll be disappointed with it. Well, I hope not, anyway.

There had better be some lizard people under those faces!

Looked decent enough.
Looked like it has promise.
Then again Bionic Woman and nuKnight Rider showed that in a few select clips.
Once they hit series, well....we know how those unfolded.
Not to mention the mess that TSCC became.
Lets don't get too excited just yet.

Exactly. What better way to take over the world than a giant face of Morena Baccarin hovering over 29 cities:techman:

Hmmm. Although I'm not quite as skeptical as Dennis, I gotta say I'm not terribly impressed. Obvioiusly these clips tell us very little, but based on the interview clip, it certainly seems that at least some of the humans are naive bumpkins once again.

V is looking more and more promising. I can't wait.

not a medium of yawn inducing boredom like NuBSG.

You're a weird dude.
Why? Because I don't bow at the altar of your god, RDM? :rommie:

Okay I'll admit that sometimes BSG could be pretentious and draggy. ;) If V can have BSG's smarts but edit out all the silly & boring parts, we will have a real winner on our hands.

V is the new show I am by far looking forward the most to, this fall. And since it's a limited series - at least till the ratings come in -
Juliet on Lost is not necessarily going to be killed off as some have feared...

I don't recall being very sanguine about either show before they aired - but based on the casting for V, I'm much more excited about it.

Of course the thing we know nothing about is the quality of the writing.

From upfronts presentation.

Yay! V trailer. V: The world shakes, but it's not an earthquake. It's them, and they have 29 spaceships that they like to park above our world's capital cities. Morena Baccarin as the alien spokeswoman says: "Don't be frightened. We mean no harm...We're honored and privileged to assist mankind with our knowledge and technology." An evil dink says, "Welcome to the New York mothership. My name is Lisa." And wait, what's this? Alan Tudyk plays as a federale opposite Elizabeth Mitchell?! Holy hell that's going to be amazing. E. Mitchell says of the aliens: "They're arming themselves with the most powerful weapon out there: devotion." Other guy: "What do we do now?" E. Mitchell: "We fight." Whee!
Ooooh damn. This is gonna suck me right in, I know it already. :rommie:

I don't care if everyone else thinks it's dumb. Doesn't stop me from watching Heroes. :p

I gotta admit, the reaction I'd expect from people to seeing Morena Baccarin's HUGE ASS FACE in the sky is either laughter or mass riots.

I hope this show is a fun, fast paced drama like Burn Notice and not a medium of yawn inducing boredom like NuBSG.

Word to the wise: if you want the majority to agree with you, don't insult their tastes.

Actually this doesn't look half-bad! One-quarter bad at most. :)

I think it looks cool, although Morena's character creeped me out in the worst way (especially when she first appeared as a giant face in the sky).

After watching video clips for NBC, Fox and the rest of ABC's lineup, I appreciate V for not looking like everything else. It's downright refreshing to see something just be freaky, weird and silly/borderline hilarious. Beats the dull grey tedium awash in the rest of the fall lineup. Entertain me, you boring bastards!!!!

Oh but that's right CBS has yet to do their upfront, no doubt we'll see some amazingly exciting stuff from Granny's network. :D
