My list, from Best to Worst

1) The Wrath Of Khan
2) The Search For Spock
3) The Voyage Home
4) The Motion Picture
5) The Final Frontier
6) First Contact
7) Generations
8) Insurrection
9) The Undiscovered Country
10) Star Trek (2009)
11) Nemesis

Either The Motion Picture or Final Frontier is the worst. I can't believe so many people picked Nemesis.

TFF is almost as bad. But the Troika scenes and chemistry saved it. Plus, it has more heart and soul than NEMESIS could ever have hoped to have.

It's Nemesis for me. Not for the overall story (which is rather poor as well) but for Data's death. Not the fact that he is dead but just how he died. The writters couldn't manage anything better the just trying to copy Spock's death in WOK? It's really bad.

I voted Generations. They killed off Kirk by shooting him in the back. Trek was dead for me after that.

To be fair, that original death scene was changed in the final theatrical cut. Soran shooting Kirk through the back didn't survive the test audiences.

Putting First Contact directly under "The Motion Picture" and (especially) "The Final Frontier" is just mean. :( I take it you didn't like the new one much?

How people can't vote for Nemesis which had NOT ONE ORIGINAL IDEA IN IT WHATSOEVER....and insulted the memory of the best Trek film (TWoK)...

I just can't fathom it.

I still say that if/when TFF gets a Director's Edition with enhanced effects and beefed up ending, it'll go up a few notches on everyone's list.

As for worst film, I enjoyed them all, but Insurrection is the weakest, IMO.

First Contact is a Zombie Action flick. Besides it has that "Star Trek" line which makes me throw up in my mouth a little. I like it because it is fun, and epic, but it did lead to Enterprise, and a wodgeload of dodgy Borg episodes in Voyager as well as Seven of Eleven. So I dislike it for its subsequent effect on the franchise.

The Final Frontier was the last time I had fun in a cinema watching a Star Trek film, unburdened by canon and expectations and internet spoilers. Until the latest movie, which was fun in the cinema, but only began to rot in my estimation when I got home and made the mistake of thinking about it. Final Frontier had dismal effects, a laughably bad story, and the best character moments of any Trek movie ever. The big three were spot on, and aside from Scotty bumping his head, I haven't enjoyed Trek characters as much since the Original Series.

There's a line in Insurrection, when Picard asks "Does anyone remember when we were explorers?" That was The Motion Picture, the only time that there has been an exploration in the spirit of Star Trek on the big screen. It had scope, vision, hope, imagination and was forward-looking in a way no Trek movie has been, and to some degree, very few of the spin-off series episodes. That it was dull, overlong, sleep-inducing, and absolutely lacking in any of the character and magic that I loved the original series for is certainly an issue, and probably why no similar Trek movie has ever been attempted again, but better to aspire for the impossible and fail, than to aim low and succeed. The end result is that I'll watch The Motion Picture over and over again, while the TNG movies gather dust.

I feel the same way about Lynch's Dune.

Yeah, Laughing...I would love to go a whole movie without seeing a Klingon, a Romulan or anything else that's familiar in a Trek movie.

DO SOMETHING NEW.

I just can't fathom it.

It couldn't even get Picard's hair at the Academy correct. Something several flashback episodes done on FAR lower budgets and with greater time constraints managed to do.

I voted for Nemesis, with Star Trek V closely behind. Actually, I did not like any of the TNG films. Except for Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner and Michael Dorn, I never much cared for the other actors. I am more or less a TOS and a DS9 fan. DS9 kicked ass. If any series deserves a film, they do.

As of my post, this is the vote tally.

Nemesis 93

Star Trek V 66 Watched this today. It wasn't as bad as I previously remembered, but not a great film, with bad actors and Klingons with rubber heads. However, after "The Voyage Home", this film was a disappointment.

Inserrection 33

Generations 17

ST:The Motion Picture (ST I) 16 This is one of my favorites actually. I think a lot of people did not like it because it was a bit slow moving without a lot of action. Then there was the strange, yet totally hot, yet bald celebate woman. This movie grew out of an abortive attempt to launch a second Star Trek series using most of the TOS actors. I think it could have been a good show and am sad it fell through.

First Contact 6 This is how you kill Kirk? Of all ways?

The Wrath of Khan (ST II) 4 (Which is a bit odd, since most people would find this film to be their favorite, or a second choice behind IV.

Star Trek III got no votes. Bringing Spock back to life, the Klingon female officer with the totally rad 80's haircut. Shat's curly toupee'. However, Christopher Lloyd was in it, and whatever Christopher Lloyd is in is usually worth a look.

Why not add the new film to the list? I am sure that it would get a few votes.

I wanted to vote for Star Trek 09 but it wasn't on the list. Since it wasn't I voted for Insurrection. Data singing on the shuttlecraft is one of the worst things Trek has ever committed to film.

Has anyone voted the NEW movie the worst one yet?!

I'm sure someone out there in the BBS hates the new film with a passion and probably ranks it at the bottom.

What, like the Son'a? They were new.

The last time a truly new adversary was successful was in Star Trek IV, and it was just a plot device. Counting the series, of course, there's the Dominion, and Insurrection would have been immeasurably improved if it has just been the Enterprise fighting the Dominion.
