Star Trek needs an Acronym

Eventually everybody will start using 1 acronym that makes the most sense, I'm personally pushing for ST09, easiest to identify.

So that would be Insurrection then?

My whole point at the start of this was to not identify the movie, but to identify the concept. Just as TOS encompasses all things original up to and including the 6th movie, and TNG encompasses all Next Generation series and movies 7 to 10, and arguably even the DS9 and Voyager stories, I would like to see something such as TNT (The New Timeline) to encompass the whole new set of potential stories that this latest movie has created.

nuTrek sound like a trademark product that I'd by at Walmart.

I'd be calling it TFB for the tagline. People have been doing it already. My guess is once the sequel comes out, undoubtedly with a subtitle that allows for an acronym, this will also become the most common shorthand for STXI/ST09/Star Trek, whatever.

In 1998, there was a little film called The X-Files. Just that. Fans referred to it, and still do, as "Fight the Future" or FTF, because that was the film's tagline and the only way to quickly differentiate between the film and the series of the same title. I mean if I posted a topic about that film on a message board that said "THE X FILES SUUUUUUUX", I might be misunderstood. Saying "FTF Sucked" is clearer.

Ah, I see. How about the Altered Universe, or AU?

STXI, not ST09 because that doesn't make sence. Well, it does, but we don't call TNG, TNG91, or TOS64.

A year is used to distinguish this movie because it has no subtitle. Unless you go by context, then there's no way to tell if someone means Star Trek (1966-1969), Star Trek (2009), or Star Trek in general.

NT = New Trek
PT = Prime Trek

ST XI or ST09 = Star Trek (2009)

Star Trek doesn't need an acronym; the title says it all.

I think they want an acronym for easy discussion:

The Original Series : TOS
The Next Generation: TNG
Deep Space Nine: DS9
Voyager: VOY
Enterprise: ENT
The Motion Picture: TMP
The Wrath of Khan: TWK
The Search for Spock: TSFS
The Voyage Home: TVH
The Final Frontier: TFF
The Undiscovered Contry: TUC
Generations: GEN
First Contact: FC
Insurrenction: INS
Nemesis: NEM
Star Trek (2009): I'm going with either ST09 or STXI

Probably the former as this movie is a new series of them so lumping it with the others with the "XI" seems silly.

TOS for The Original Series
TNG for The Next Generation
VOY for Voyager
DS9 for well you know...
ENT for Enterprise

TMP or ST1 or STI for The Motion Picture.
TWOK or ST2 for Wrath of Khan
SFS or ST3 for Search for Spock
TVH or ST4 for Voyage Home
FF or ST5 for Final Frontier
UC or ST6 for Undiscovered Country
Gen or ST7 for Generations
FC or ST8 for First Contact
Ins or ST9 for Insurrection
Nem or ST10 for Nemesis
?? or ST11 for Star Trek 2009
The Original Series : TOS
The Next Generation: TNG
Deep Space Nine: DS9
Voyager: VOY
Enterprise: ENT
The Motion Picture: TMP
The Wrath of Khan: TWK
The Search for Spock: TSFS
The Voyage Home: TVH
The Final Frontier: TFF
The Undiscovered Contry: TUC

Why do people always forget about TAS? :(
